Dak Lak celebrates 120 years of province establishment

On the evening of November 22, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the founding of Dak Lak province (November 22, 1904 - November 22, 2024), attended by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh.


On the evening of November 22, at 10/3 Square, Buon Ma Thuot City, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the founding of Dak Lak province (November 22, 1904 - November 22, 2024).

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Secretary of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, said that since its establishment, the province has gone through many stages of transformation and development along with the history of the nation.

During the nation's long resistance wars, the people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak contributed manpower and resources, fought bravely, and sacrificed their lives in bombs and bullets, including more than 9,500 martyrs, more than 7,600 wounded soldiers; 641 mothers were awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

Over the past 50 years, the province has joined the whole country in carrying out two strategic tasks of building and defending the socialist Fatherland and carrying out the renovation process initiated and led by the Party.

After 120 years of establishment and development, Dak Lak has now become a fairly large province in the Central Highlands region; with a natural area and population among the top provinces and cities in the country; with the largest area and output of coffee, pepper, and durian in the country; and is an important traffic hub of the Central Highlands.

The province's economy maintains a fairly high growth rate; the total product value in the area ranks first in the Central Highlands region.

In the period of 2021 - 2023, the average economic growth will reach 7%/year, the economic scale will increasingly expand; GRDP per capita in 2024 is estimated to reach nearly 75 million VND.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh highly appreciated and commended the efforts and achievements that the Party Committee, government, army and people of Dak Lak province have achieved in recent times.

In the coming time, in order to strive for sustainable development, worthy of the central position and main driving force of the Central Highlands region, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak province to focus on closely following the direction of the Central Government, seize every opportunity, overcome all difficulties and challenges, mobilize the participation of the entire political system and people of the province, strive to achieve the goal that by 2050 Dak Lak will "become a province with ecological space, identity, creative connections, a favorite and livable destination".

Mobilizing combined strength, effectively exploiting development potential and advantages, strongly promoting new growth drivers, especially digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge economy and new industries and fields, high technology.

Innovating the economic model, focusing on developing advantageous, large-scale, high-quality, and large-export agricultural and forestry products;

Promote agricultural, forestry and fishery processing activities and renewable energy production; build urban economy, digital infrastructure, transport infrastructure, irrigation;

Developing services - logistics - tourism based on digital transformation; preserving cultural heritage values, choosing economic activities suitable to local cultural characteristics.

"Building a clean, strong, honest, active political system serving the people; arranging the political system's apparatus to be streamlined, strong, efficient, effective, and efficient with high determination;

Tighten discipline and order; promote decentralization and delegation of power; reform administration and improve the investment environment;

Encourage cadres at all levels to be dynamic, innovative, creative, dare to think, dare to do, dare to break through, dare to take responsibility for the common good; continue to promote the fight against corruption, negativity, and waste.

Socio-economic development, environmental protection, ensuring social security; ensuring national defense, security and social order and safety;

Firmly protect national independence, sovereignty and borders; improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs and international integration activities.

Besides, we must always identify the task of cultivating, preserving and strengthening solidarity among ethnic groups as the "key" to building localities that are increasingly peaceful, prosperous and happy," Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized.

At the Ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong announced the Decision and awarded the Certificate of recognition of the National Treasure "Thac Hai Stone Drill Collection" to Dak Lak province.

In addition, the National Record Institute has inspected and established 3 national records of the province: Dak Lak is the province with the largest coffee growing area in Vietnam (reaching 212,106 hectares); Lak Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands in Vietnam (over 500 hectares, at an altitude of nearly 417 meters above sea level) and Yok Don National Park is the largest national park preserving the dry dipterocarp forest ecosystem in Vietnam.
