On the morning of December 10, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting with representatives of Vietnamese veterans to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. Attending the meeting were leaders of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, along with Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and Labor Heroes; representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association; representatives of the Veterans Associations of 63 provinces and cities, and 300 outstanding veterans nationwide.

General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, expressed his joy at welcoming veterans from all over the country to the capital on the occasion of the important anniversary of the Army and preparing to welcome the new year 2025. General Phan Van Giang said that a few days ago, the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association was successfully held, and General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, attended the congress. On this occasion, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense also met with retired senior military officials and expressed gratitude to the families of war invalids and martyrs. The Minister of National Defense gave an overview of the current situation in the world, the region, and the country; the plots, tricks, and sabotage activities of hostile forces; outstanding results in military and defense work, and Party building of the Army in 2024; and key directions and tasks in 2025.

In particular, the Minister informed about the activities in December of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. These include the establishment of the 34th Army Corps (based on the merger of the 3rd and 4th Army Corps); the National Conference on the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army; the Central Military Commission Conference; and the reception of the heads of delegations attending the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition...

Regarding the exhibition held from December 19-22, General Phan Van Giang said that military leaders from nearly 40 countries will attend the exhibition, with more than 400 booths compared to the first exhibition (2022), this time the number of booths has doubled. Countries with large economies and military potential are participating in the exhibition.

The Minister emphasized that this is an opportunity to seize the opportunity, "we produce strategic weapons by attracting human resources from large defense industry corporations in the world such as Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin...".

The Minister of National Defense affirmed that over the past 80 years, every feat, achievement, maturity and growth of the Vietnam People's Army has left a deep mark of the trust and care of the Party and State, the love and care of the people, and the close coordination of central and local ministries, branches and sectors, including the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association.

Veterans' associations at all levels always accompany and closely coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense and agencies and units in the entire army to well organize many activities in all fields; especially sharing and participating in many valuable opinions, together with the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense...

General Phan Van Giang hopes that veterans will continue to care and show more affection, becoming a great source of encouragement for the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, Party committees and commanders of agencies, units, officers and soldiers throughout the army.
