Top schools decreased by more or less 1 point compared to 2023, some schools increased slightly
According to the announcement of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the admission scores for grade 10 at some top schools in Hanoi's enrollment areas tend to decrease compared to last year.
The three schools with the highest benchmark scores in the city are Chu Van An High School, Le Quy Don - Ha Dong High School and Yen Hoa High School, all with a benchmark score of 42.5.
With this year's benchmark score, Chu Van An High School decreased by 1.75 points compared to last year. Meanwhile, Yen Hoa High School and Le Quy Don High School - Ha Dong both increased by 0.25 points compared to last year.
This is also quite a surprising change because for many years Chu Van An High School has always had the highest standard score and surpassed other schools in the same group, but this year it has dropped to the "same level" with three other schools.
In 2023, Yen Hoa High School was strongly affected, falling behind schools such as Phan Dinh Phung High School (Ba Dinh District), Kim Lien High School, Viet Duc High School... but this year it moved up to the leading position.
Some top schools this year also saw a sharp decrease, such as Kim Lien High School with a benchmark score of 41.75 (last year it was 43.25)...

Admission scores of many top 2 schools have dropped sharply.
Tran Phu High School - Hoan Kiem has a benchmark score of 39.50, down 2.25 points compared to last year. Viet Duc High School has a benchmark score of 41.25, down 2.25 points compared to last year.
Many top 2 schools also saw a significant decrease, such as Dong Da High School with a benchmark score of 36.50, down 3 points compared to last year.
In particular, Doan Ket - Hai Ba Trung High School has plummeted dramatically with a benchmark score of only 23.75, a decrease of 16.25 points.
Many top 2 schools have common reductions of 1 - 1.25 points.
106,000 candidates took the exam, only 61% entered public schools
In the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi will have 127 public and autonomous public high schools. Of these, there are 115 non-specialized public high schools, 4 specialized high schools and 8 autonomous public high schools.
The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in Hanoi has over 106,000 candidates, only 61% will be admitted to public schools. The rest can study at private schools, continuing education centers - vocational education...
Candidates taking the entrance exam to grade 10 public schools in Hanoi are required to take three exams: math, literature, and foreign language. The standard score for grade 10 for non-specialized students is calculated by the score for literature and math (coefficient 2) plus the foreign language (coefficient 1) plus priority and incentive points (if any).
