Quang Tri veterans actively participate in building and protecting the Party and government.

This morning, September 27, the Standing Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee had a working session with the Central Survey Delegation on the summary of 20 years of implementing Resolution 09-NQ/TW, dated January 8, 2002 of the 9th Politburo "On strengthening the Party's leadership over the work of Vietnam's war veterans in the new revolutionary period" (abbreviated as Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW). Chairman of the Vietnam War Veterans Association, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, head of the survey delegation; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Tran Huy; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam attended the meeting.

Over the past years, the Standing Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee has focused on leading, directing, implementing, inspecting, supervising, summarizing, and concluding the implementation of Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW in the province. Thereby, creating positive changes in the awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, levels, sectors, cadres, and Party members towards the work of war veterans; issuing many policies and solutions to create favorable conditions for the activities of the War Veterans Association.

The association's activities have been given attention and financial and material support. Associations at all levels and members have promoted the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers"; the tradition of "Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplary - Innovation". Over the past 20 years, the Association of War Veterans at all levels has participated in coordinating to detect and handle 2,289 negative cases and disturbances in residential areas; successfully reconciled 1,945 cases of conflicts, disputes and discord among the people; educated and reformed 2,857 youths...

Through many specific and practical propaganda and mobilization activities, 786 villages, hamlets, neighborhoods and 54 agencies in the whole province have established 423 veteran clubs, gathering 22,665 veterans into the clubs...

Many clubs help each other develop the economy, overcome difficulties and hardships, unite, and set an example in participating in campaigns and movements to develop the economy, culture, society, national defense and security... in the locality.

With the guidance and support of the Veterans Association at all levels, 225 Veterans' Wives Clubs, gathering 4,156 women in localities, have operated effectively. Veterans' Association members actively participate in building and protecting the Party, government, regime and people; fight against all plots and sabotage activities of hostile forces; participate in socio-economic development, strengthen national defense and security, build the Party and government; do a good job in people's foreign affairs... actively contributing to the development of the homeland and country.

At the meeting, delegates focused on assessing the difficulties and limitations in the implementation of Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW. From there, they made recommendations and proposals to the central survey delegation on issues such as: lack of staff quotas for the Veterans Association; shortcomings in the organizational structure of the Veterans Association; lack of allowances for branch-level staff; facilities and equipment serving the association's activities at many establishments are still difficult and limited, not meeting the requirements and tasks...

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang affirmed: More than 20 years of implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW and nearly 15 years of implementing Conclusion No. 66-KL/TW, dated March 4, 2010 have contributed to strengthening and innovating the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels for war invalids' work in the province.

Promoting the revolutionary tradition and the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the provincial war veterans constantly study, cultivate, and practice revolutionary ethics, actively contributing to the development of their homeland and country.

However, in the process of implementing the resolution, the province encountered many difficulties, so it is recommended that the central government study and develop a draft Law on War Veterans to soon submit to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.

Consider issuing a new resolution on the work of the Veterans Association in accordance with the new situation. Provide guidance for the nationwide implementation of the model of combining the Veterans Association in administrative agencies with many Party Committees and grassroots Party cells directly under the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies and Enterprises into an inter-agency Veterans Association to ensure the leadership of the Party organization.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of the Veterans Association at all levels in Quang Tri province, especially in promoting the role of participating in building and protecting the Party and government, contributing to the development and political stability and socio-economic development in the locality.

At the same time, it is recommended that local Party committees and authorities continue to strengthen leadership and direction, creating favorable conditions to better promote the role and tasks of the Veterans Association. Provincial Veterans Associations at all levels overcome difficulties, continue to focus on implementing the key tasks of the association; unite to build a comprehensively strong local Veterans Association.

For recommendations and proposals from the province, the survey team will synthesize and report to competent authorities for consideration and resolution.
