The exceptionally high scores of literature in the 2024 high school graduation exam in many provinces and cities are still attracting public attention.
Besides Bac Ninh attracting attention when 1 in 10 candidates scored 9.5 points or higher, Tra Vinh also created a surprise when 1 in 4 candidates scored 9 points or higher.
Specifically, according to Dan Tri newspaper's analysis of exam score data released by the Ministry of Education and Training, Tra Vinh has 9,605 candidates with literature exam scores, of which 99 candidates scored 9.75 points (accounting for 1%); 579 candidates scored 9.5 points (accounting for 6%).
If counting from the 9-point mark and above, Tra Vinh has 2,545 candidates, accounting for 26.5% of the total number of candidates taking the exam (about 1/4). Thus, for every 4 candidates, 1 student scored 9 points and above.
Compared to the 8-point mark - excellent - the whole province has 6,340 candidates reaching this mark, equivalent to 66% (about 3/5). This means that out of 5 candidates taking the exam, 3 candidates achieved excellent scores.
The number of Tra Vinh candidates who scored 8 or higher in literature accounted for 3/5 of the total number of students who scored in this subject (Chart: Huyen Nguyen).
With this score, Tra Vinh province's literature exam score skyrocketed nearly 50 places compared to last year. If in 2023, Tra Vinh had an average literature score of 6.329 and modestly ranked 51st, this year, the score was completely different.
With an average score of 8.094 in literature, Tra Vinh has completely "transformed" in the 2024 high school graduation exam when it surpassed a series of other provinces and cities to rise to 2nd place in the top provinces and cities leading in average score in this subject.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bach Van, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tra Vinh, said that thanks to the innovation in teaching and learning literature in the province, Tra Vinh ranked 2nd in the country in literature, up 49 places compared to the 2023 exam.
According to Ms. Van, this result shows the determination and solidarity of the province, the education sector, schools, parents, teachers and especially the efforts of each student. At the same time, the focus is on process assessment rather than final assessment.
Tra Vinh jumped 49 places, ranking 2nd out of 63 provinces with high scores in literature in the 2024 high school graduation exam (Chart: Hoang Hong).
In addition, the provincial education sector also organized a provincial-level literature scientific conference with the theme "Building a language bank and designing periodic tests and assessments for literature in the direction of developing students' abilities"; professional activities in the direction of lesson research; cross-professional activities between schools under the guidance of the provincial literature council.
