PouYuen Vietnam Company is about to recruit 1,000 new employees.

The above information was shared by Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep, Chairman of the Trade Union of PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd., on the afternoon of December 1 in the discussion forum at the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.

PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. will recruit 1,000 new employees in early 2024.

According to Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep, up to this point, after 3 rounds of cuts, 9,500 laid-off workers have been supported with nearly 1,200 billion VND. The highest supported worker is 468 million VND.

"Among the workers being cut, 41% are over 40 years old. We have a policy of selecting those who voluntarily register, not forcing workers to quit. The cut is due to lack of orders, not because we want to push older workers away," said Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep.

Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep added that, up to now, the company has received orders until the end of February 2024, and some factories even have orders until June 2024. "Not only has the company not cut its workforce, but it is also planning to recruit 1,000 new people in early 2024," Mr. Nghiep said.

Although affected by the global economic recession leading to a reduction in orders, with the positive order situation at the end of the year, Mr. Nghiep said that the union will try to negotiate so that workers will not have their Tet bonuses reduced compared to last year (in the Year of the Cat, the highest bonus workers received was 22 million VND - PV).

PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. belongs to Taiwan's Pouchen International Group, specializing in shoe manufacturing. This is considered the company with the most employees in Ho Chi Minh City.

In early August, the company announced that it would continue to negotiate the termination of labor contracts with 1,230 people. This was also the third time the company announced labor cuts.

The previous layoffs took place in February (cutting more than 2,300 workers, the highest severance support level was 379 million VND/worker); May (cutting about 5,700 workers, the highest severance support level was 452 million VND/worker).

The reason for the staff reduction mentioned by the company is because the decrease in orders forced the business to continue adjusting its organizational structure and agreeing to terminate labor contracts with employees.
