Green technology

In English, green technology is called GreenTech or CleanTech. Therefore, green technology is also called clean technology. The concept of green technology was actually mentioned in the 1990s, but it became an urgent need and became more popular in the 2010s. Some industrial revolutions such as using solar panels or using products to replace plastic waste have started a new trend in the world. The biggest goal of green technology is to protect the environment. In other words, protecting the environment and making the environment cleaner is the mission of green technology.

One of the biggest challenges facing the world today is to curb carbon emissions to address the climate crisis. In the coming years, technological advances are likely to revolve around green hydrogen, a new clean-burning energy source that produces virtually zero greenhouse gas emissions. Shell and RWE, two major European energy companies, are creating the first major green pipeline from wind farms in the North Sea.

In Vietnam, green technology is also considered a driving force for the economy. Vietnam considers clean technology and clean energy as the key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 8%, with the goal of further reducing by 1.5 - 2% by 2050. That is why the Government always encourages businesses to apply green technology in production and business activities.

In the current context, encouraging businesses to follow the direction of clean technology is not only timely but also in line with the country's orientation. To achieve this, on April 4, 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 707/QD-UBND on the establishment of a working group and a support group on the construction of the Ben Tre Green Hydrogen Plant Complex to advise the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to promptly resolve and remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing investment and construction procedures, supporting the Ben Tre Green Hydrogen Plant Complex to soon start construction and put into operation.

Sustainable Technology

Sustainable technology is an umbrella term that describes all innovations that take into account natural resources and promote socio-economic development. The goal of these technologies is to significantly reduce environmental and ecological risks while creating a sustainable product. They can include the application of a range of digital technologies such as: artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, cloud computing, augmented reality (ER), robotic process automation (RPA) and many others.

Sustainable technology can be applied in three important areas of a business: internal IT systems, operations, and customer activities. For example, IT departments of a business can move their resources to the cloud to use more professional design, storage, and security services. Businesses can automate as many business processes as possible through digital transformation, using virtual (or real) robots for repetitive tasks, or using AI to support data analysis and decision making. They must also think about applying less resource-intensive solutions such as energy-saving LED lighting, or using materials that meet the principles of the circular economy. When many customers want a sustainable product but are not willing to compromise on quality and cost, businesses can offer convincing solutions such as blockchain-based traceability or energy-saving, carbon-reducing certification labels. The world will see a continued push towards making supply chains more transparent as consumers demand products and services that are energy efficient and backed by more sustainable technology.

According to The Green Solutions Group, the Ben Tre Green Hydrogen Production Plant is expected to be built in Bao Thuan Commune, Ba Tri District. The plant uses German hydrogen production technology, which is still very new in the Vietnamese market. The Ben Tre Green Hydrogen Production Plant is expected to be built on a land area of 22.7 hectares. When put into operation, the project will contribute to the development of the green energy industry in Vietnam in general and the province in particular.
