Launching the model "Gathering women on cyberspace" in Ben Tre city.
Initial results
The model is deployed according to Plan No. 216/KH-BCH and 217/KH-BCH dated July 20, 2023 of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Women's Union to concretize the Resolution of the 13th National Women's Congress and the 10th Provincial Women's Congress on promoting digital transformation and innovating the union's operation methods. The main goal is to create a flexible environment for women to share information, reflect their needs and aspirations, as well as access knowledge, skills and movement activities of the union.
In the 3 selected units, Facebook groups have been established and put into operation since the end of 2024. The group "Ben Tre City Women" was initiated on October 15, 2024 with 131 members, and has now increased to 319 members. The group focuses on updating news about association activities, sharing knowledge and skills for women.
Meanwhile, the group "Ba Tri Women" was established on November 27, 2024, from 92 initial members has grown to 760 members. The group's content is quite diverse: 50% of posts are related to young women, 20% are about beauty, health care and 30% are information about emulation movements and local activities; 27 accounts have posted with a total of 301 posts (an average of 3 posts/day), 312 comments and more than 446 reactions on the posts, 2,979 people have viewed the information posted on the group.
The group "Mo Cay Bac Women" was launched on November 11, 2024 with only 8 members, and has so far attracted 560 members, with rich posted content, attracting great attention from women with 19,200 people viewing the information posted on the group. Evaluating the effectiveness of the model, Vice President of the Ba Tri District Women's Union Huynh Thi My Linh said: "This model is really suitable when the majority of women use social networks. Not only does it attract old members, but it also has the participation of many women who have never participated in the Union before, which is very encouraging."
Improve operational efficiency
In addition to the achieved results, the model still has some difficulties that need to be overcome. Some union officials are limited in information technology skills, the content of posts is not rich, and the level of attracting members is not equal among groups. Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Mo Cay Bac district, Nguyen Thi Be Hong, emphasized the benefits of the model: Applying social networks helps the union reach members faster and more effectively. However, there are still some difficulties such as low interactivity, and the content posted needs to be more attractive to attract members.
In order to improve operational efficiency, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to support and foster group management skills for the Board of Directors, and at the same time implement online interactive activities to increase member participation.
Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa emphasized: "Although newly deployed, the model has shown great potential in expanding the scope of the association's activities on digital platforms. In the coming time, we will replicate the model, focus on improving the quality of posted content, increase training for the Board of Directors of groups, and at the same time promote communication to attract more members to participate."
With initial results, the model of gathering women on the social network Facebook promises to become an important connection channel, contributing to innovating the association's operation methods and creating momentum for the development of the women's movement in the digital age.
