The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just officially announced 10 milestones of the education and training sector in 2024, including:

Ho Chi Minh City's education development strategy from now to 2030, vision to 2045:

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued Decision No. 192/2024 approving the "Ho Chi Minh City Education Development Strategy from now to 2030, with a vision to 2045". The strategy has concretized the national education development strategy and linked the goals of building national standard schools. Accelerating the speed of infrastructure construction, building new schools, meeting the target of 300 classrooms/10,000 population of school age to meet the learning needs of the city's people, contributing to accelerating the implementation of fundamental and comprehensive innovation and improving the quality of education and training, focusing on modernizing and changing the method of education and training, developing human resources, education and training to meet the requirements of high-quality human resources of the fourth industrial revolution and international integration.

In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training was recognized for many remarkable achievements in the field of digital transformation of education through strategic cooperation with international partners. The modern "Digital School" model is deployed based on an advanced online management and learning platform, helping teachers and students access the latest technology.

As a pioneer in digital transformation, the city has built a specific roadmap, continuously updated to meet global technology trends. One of the important steps is to build a shared database, which serves as a foundation for analysis, forecasting and decision making. Applying AI in education not only personalizes learning but also supports early student streaming, forecasts future educational needs and optimizes development strategies.

International cooperation also plays an important role in promoting digital transformation in education. The city has deployed strategic task groups, including building comprehensive education data, implementing artificial intelligence training programs for students, and improving digital transformation capacity for managers and teachers. These programs are designed based on the experience of advanced countries such as Japan and Singapore, while ensuring consistency with domestic education programs...

Summary of ten years of implementing educational projects

Pilot model for childcare for children from 6 to 18 months old: Ho Chi Minh City is the first locality in the country to pilot a model for receiving children from 6 months to 18 months old. This is considered a humane policy, meeting the needs of young parents, childcare workers, especially workers in the city.

After 10 years of implementation, up to now, 20 districts and Thu Duc city have implemented the model with 241 preschool facilities and 272 child care groups. Project "Teaching and learning Math, Science and English integrating English and Vietnamese programs": The City's Department of Education and Training has always been proactive in innovating and creating in organizing the implementation of the Project, aiming to improve the quality of human resources, training skills so that the City's students are qualified and ready to integrate internationally, becoming global citizens. After 10 years of implementing the project, training efficiency has been ensured, the quality of education in general and the learning outcomes of English of students have been increasingly improved, especially the ability to use English of students has been significantly improved, the number of students and educational institutions participating in the Project has increased gradually over the years.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has achieved outstanding results in the national high school science and technology competition.

The City Excellent Student Team ranked 2nd in the National Excellent Student Competition, 10 places higher than the results of the 2022-2023 school year; the City has maintained the leading position in English scores in the High School Graduation Exam for 8 consecutive years.

Achieving universal education and eliminating illiteracy

Ho Chi Minh City has created favorable conditions for students to study regularly, contributing to the goal of universalizing education and eliminating illiteracy. The school system, facilities and teaching equipment have always been invested in, ensuring that they meet the necessary requirements for effective teaching and learning. Digital School

In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training deployed a set of standards for recognizing digital schools as a breakthrough to promote digital transformation in education. This is not only a tool for evaluating and recognizing educational institutions that meet digital school standards, but also a strategic premise to orient creative and innovative solutions to meet the development needs of the times. This set of standards contributes to realizing the goal of building 50 digital schools in the city, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Happy School

Ho Chi Minh City is one of the first units in the country to implement the "Happy School" criteria set at 100% of educational institutions in the area. Since its implementation, the model has been effective in contributing to building the image of Ho Chi Minh City people as "Living decently, civilized, modern, affectionate, dynamic and creative"; spreading good relationships in each school, fostering love between teachers, between teachers and students, between students, creating a friendly educational environment, active learning in the entire education sector of the City.

10 consecutive years holding the top position in the national Phu Dong Sports Festival rankings

The 2024 National Phu Dong Sports Festival will be held in Hai Phong, with 63 provinces and cities participating.

The Ho Chi Minh City student sports delegation with more than 600 members registered to participate in all competitions of 15 sports; achieved 275 gold medals, 141 silver medals, 123 bronze medals, with a total final score of 6,699 points, winning the first prize nationwide.

This is the 10th consecutive time that Ho Chi Minh City has held the top position in this playground.

Cooperation in training high quality human resources

The overall project on training international-level human resources (8 majors: Information Technology - Communications, Mechanics - Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Business Administration, Finance - Banking, Healthcare, Tourism, Urban Management) for the period 2020-2035 and shared universities was approved by the City in July 2021 to train high-quality human resources at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with international qualifications, contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce, thereby helping to create competitive advantages and economic growth for Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general in the process of integration into the global value chain, meeting the requirements of comprehensive educational innovation and the trend of globalization of the workforce.

In 2024, the city accepted and summarized 4 projects. At the same time, it signed a handover and implementation record with training institutions and signed a sponsorship and training cooperation agreement between higher education institutions and businesses and employers.

The implementation of training contributes to improving the quality of university education, promoting the training of high-quality human resources at international standards, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City into an international center of education and training attracting students from the region and the world.
