Someone won the Powerball jackpot of more than $500 million

The Powerball lottery results in California (USA) on March 29 found the winner of the jackpot worth 527 million USD.


According to the New York Post , this is only the second time this year that the Powerball lottery has found a jackpot winner. The winning numbers announced in the drawing on March 29 included 5 white numbers including 7-11-21-53-61 and the red number (Powerball) was 2.

The winner has not yet been identified. He or she can choose to receive $527 million in 30 payments or a lump sum of $243.8 million. The lucky person picked the correct number, with odds of winning 1 in 292.2 million.

Previously, the Powerball jackpot this year belonged to Mr. Abbas Shafii, who won more than 328 million in the drawing in Oregon on January 18. He chose to receive it in one lump sum and took home more than 146 million USD.

Last year, there were nine jackpot winners. A Laotian named Cheng "Charlie" Saephan won the biggest prize last year, winning a jackpot of more than $1.3 billion in April 2024, the fourth-largest in Powerball history.

The largest prize in Powerball history was a jackpot worth about $2 billion won by Edwin Castro in California in November 2022. He chose to receive a lump sum of $997 million. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
