There is a phenomenon of "brokers" making gold business licenses in Ho Chi Minh City.

On October 10, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Ho Chi Minh City branch issued a document requesting the Jewelry and Gemstone Association and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities in the area to coordinate and increase information on gold jewelry production activities.

According to the document, there is a phenomenon of some subjects claiming to be law firms or consulting firms contacting companies and businesses operating in the gold jewelry and fine art business to request support in applying for a certificate of eligibility to produce gold jewelry and fine art and requesting a large sum of money for expenses.

The city branch of the State Bank of Vietnam said that this action was taken advantage of by criminals who took advantage of businesses' trust and lack of information for personal gain, violated regulations, and affected the reputation of the unit and the quality of public services.

According to the management agency, the issuance of a certificate of eligibility for the production of gold jewelry is an administrative procedure, assigned by the State Bank of Vietnam to the State Bank branches in provinces and cities to carry out according to decentralization, responsibilities and tasks.

The monetary authority said it has publicly posted this procedure at its branch office (No. 8 Vo Van Kiet, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), providing guidance to businesses on the documents and procedures that will be considered for granting a certificate.

This procedure is free and hassle-free, only requiring businesses to be qualified and comply with legal regulations in their operations. Therefore, businesses in need should contact the one-stop transaction department directly for guidance, without going through an intermediary, to avoid losing money and being taken advantage of.

The Ho Chi Minh City Monetary Authority requested the Gemstone and Jewelry Association and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities in the area to coordinate in informing gold jewelry and fine art manufacturing enterprises to grasp, implement and promptly prevent bad deeds that affect enterprises, the investment and business environment and management work.
