On July 20, at a regular press conference, answering reporters' questions regarding the visit of US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has visited Vietnam and is continuing to visit (July 18-20). As we all know, this is Ms. Janet Yellen's first visit to Vietnam as US Treasury Secretary.
The visit takes place in the context that Vietnam and the United States are organizing many exciting activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of establishing a comprehensive partnership.
On this occasion, the two countries will discuss measures to further deepen economic cooperation between the two countries and promote economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The two countries also exchanged measures to support the clean, global transition; promoted cooperation in the banking and finance sector; and discussed ways to enhance financial recovery and macroeconomic stability.
During the visit, Ms. Janet Yellen will meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and meet with leaders of ministries and sectors.
