Up to now, the dredging of the Co Co River from Km0 - Km14 is almost still the same as 4 months ago. Specifically, the section through Hoi An City (Km0 - Km9+500) has completed about 423,000/680,000m3 (62%), while the section through Dien Ban Town (Km9+500 - Km14) has only completed about 342,000/720,000 m3 (48%).
During the project survey last weekend, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung requested the Quang Nam Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to quickly find a unit to re-evaluate the sand price. At the same time, coordinate with units to urgently find a suitable solution to handle the amount of sand after dredging to soon restart dredging the channel.
Regarding site clearance in Hoi An, Mr. Hung said that there are basically no major problems with the site, so he suggested that the Department of Natural Resources and Environment issue the latest guidelines on the 2024 Land Law in September so that units can soon implement it according to regulations. The site clearance for the section through Hoi An City must be completed before November 30.

Also on this river, compared to the current status of the inspection nearly 5 months ago by provincial leaders, the Nghia Tu bridge project (Dien Duong ward, Dien Ban) has clearly moved forward.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong - Deputy Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board informed that the Nghia Tu bridge has completed the lower part (including pillars P1, P2, abutments M1, M2), the construction unit is implementing the construction of segments K1 - K10 of pillar P2 and is expected to close the bridge before December 31, 2024.
Although the Nghia Tu bridge approach road is still stuck in the ground and has not been implemented yet, there are signs of an exit. According to statistics, the Nghia Tu bridge approach road will affect 30 households, of which 17 households will be cleared.
With 10 households requesting on-site resettlement, the Provincial People's Committee has agreed in principle and proposed Dien Ban to implement it soon in 2024. In addition, 7 households wish to move to neighboring resettlement areas and 13 households will have their land and part of the structures affected.

According to the Dien Ban town government, the locality has basically prepared enough resettlement land to serve the clearance for construction on both sides of the Nghia Tu bridge approach road, so it will soon coordinate with the Department of Construction to carry out related adjustment procedures to arrange resettlement for affected households in the coming time.
Mr. Tran Nam Hung suggested that, for some specific cases where land compensation is not available, Dien Ban should consider applying financial support for job conversion for people like Hoi An City has applied to synchronize the support policy across the entire project route.
At the same time, Dien Ban must properly manage the status of cleared areas, compensate according to regulations and prepare a parallel handling plan to be implemented immediately in October 2024 for cases where the dialogue period has expired and the site has not been handed over.
Previously, at the working session on the Project of dredging, emergency flood drainage and saltwater intrusion prevention of Co Co River in May 2024, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested relevant parties to immediately complete dredging the section Km0 - Km14 (from the area near Cua Dai to Nghia Tu bridge) before the Quang Nam Provincial Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term.
As for the section Km14 - 19+456 (from Nghia Tu bridge to the border of Da Nang city), the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board proposed the Provincial People's Committee to assign the unit to prepare investment procedures to soon continue dredging this section in the medium term 2021-2025 or 2026-2030.
