NDO - The Hanoi City Tuberculosis Control Program needs to continue to mobilize the strong participation of the Hanoi City political system; continue to deploy, ensure the quality and effectiveness of activities of screening, examination, detection, diagnosis and management of treatment of tuberculosis, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis; promote propaganda work so that departments, branches, organizations and people can join hands and unite to prevent and control tuberculosis to end tuberculosis.


On March 21, the Hanoi Department of Health coordinated with the Hanoi Lung Hospital and the National Tuberculosis Control Program to organize a rally in response to World Tuberculosis Day (March 24) in 2025, with the theme "Vietnam commits, invests, and acts to end tuberculosis".

According to the report, the Hanoi City Tuberculosis Control Program currently maintains a tuberculosis prevention and control network from the city to districts, towns and 100% of communes, wards and towns in the area. Each commune, ward and town health station has a specialist in tuberculosis prevention and control, performing tasks at the grassroots health level. Meanwhile, general and specialized hospitals in the city, public and non-public medical facilities, and special model units participate in coordination in the examination, detection, diagnosis, referral and management of tuberculosis patients.

In addition, the Program also promotes proactive screening activities, maintains a model of active detection of tuberculosis in the community on a large scale, pilots a model of ending tuberculosis in each locality with support from projects; implements active detection, proactive detection according to the guidance of Decision No. 2627/QD-BYT, dated September 5, 2024 on promulgating Guidelines for implementing activities of active detection of tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis, and some respiratory diseases in the community and medical facilities.

Director of Hanoi Lung Hospital - Head of Hanoi Tuberculosis Control Program Nguyen Van Dong said that in 2024, the total number of people examined for suspected tuberculosis in the area will be 113,316 people (an increase compared to 2023); the number of people with tuberculosis of all types admitted for treatment and prevention in the year will be 4,205 people; the number of people examined and tested for sputum will be 37,206 people, reaching 108% exceeding the planned target; the rate of successful treatment of all types will reach 95.8%...

The management of tuberculosis patients at the grassroots health care level is also regularly and consistently implemented, ensuring that 100% of detected tuberculosis patients are admitted, managed and treated; patient management is carried out in communes and wards according to instructions; new regimens are updated and effectively used in the management of sensitive tuberculosis, drug-resistant tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis (BPaL, 3HP, 1HP, 6L...). Notably, the successful treatment rate in the sensitive and latent tuberculosis groups is over 93%; in the drug-resistant tuberculosis group is about 77.9% (meeting the target set by the National Tuberculosis Control Program).

In parallel with professional activities, the Program focused on communication on mass media, on loudspeakers of communes and wards; provided 3,000 leaflets and brochures on TB prevention and control to TB clinics... Organized continuous training for 1,670 trainees at all levels on updated content of TB treatment management at commune/ward level; diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant TB; diagnosis and treatment of latent TB.

To improve the effectiveness of tuberculosis prevention and control activities in the area by 2025, Director of Hanoi Lung Hospital - Head of Hanoi Tuberculosis Control Program Nguyen Van Dong said that the Hanoi Tuberculosis Control Program continues to mobilize political commitment and resources for tuberculosis prevention and control; build, ensure and develop network activities from the city to grassroots health care; ensure adequate and timely supply, good monitoring of tuberculosis treatment drugs, specialized supplies; early detection, proper treatment, good monitoring of patients with sensitive tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. On the other hand, it is necessary to do better in communicating and educating people about tuberculosis; apply new technology, modern techniques in tuberculosis management; promote proactive detection, enhance active detection of tuberculosis...

Speaking at the rally, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Binh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Central Lung Hospital (Ministry of Health) said that World Tuberculosis Day is held on March 24 every year to raise public awareness of the serious impacts of tuberculosis on human health, the economy and society.

At the same time, it is recommended that the Hanoi City Tuberculosis Control Program continue to mobilize the strong participation of the Hanoi City political system; continue to deploy, ensure the quality and effectiveness of activities of screening, examination, detection, diagnosis and management of tuberculosis, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis; promote propaganda work so that departments, branches, organizations and people can join hands and unite to prevent tuberculosis to end tuberculosis.
