The Central working delegation also worked with Thai Nguyen province on directing the recovery of the consequences of storm No. 3. On behalf of the locality, Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Secretary Trinh Viet Hung quickly reported on the situation of storm prevention and control and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the province in recent days.
The storm also caused an estimated loss of over 600 billion VND, nearly 26,000 households had to be evacuated; over 61 schools were flooded and had their roofs blown off; over 9,000 hectares of rice and crops were damaged; many livestock farms, fish ponds and people's property were flooded and damaged; many landslides affected traffic, as well as affected people's houses... Currently, flooding is still complicated, localities are continuing to review, count and assess the damage.
All levels and sectors in Thai Nguyen province have mobilized forces and means to support the evacuation of flooded households in isolated areas to safe places; implemented plans to protect dykes against floods, overcome landslides affecting traffic, restore electricity, water, telecommunications systems, medical facilities, and schools; operated and regulated reservoirs to ensure safety; organized environmental sanitation forces, and disease prevention, etc.
Thai Nguyen province has also mobilized over 8,000 officers, soldiers and local shock troops along with necessary vehicles, equipment and materials to reinforce and ensure the flood resistance of the dikes. Storm No. 3 passed without affecting production and business activities in industrial parks and industrial clusters in the province.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the proactive spirit of Thai Nguyen province in the face of the unusual developments of storm No. 3 and the floods after the storm. The National Assembly Chairman requested that Thai Nguyen province continue to closely monitor the developments of floods to proactively respond when the water recedes and must have a plan to immediately repair deeply flooded areas, to prevent epidemics from occurring after the floods; to repair damage to infrastructure as soon as possible and organize visits and encouragement to the families of the victims; Thai Nguyen province leaders directed the Education and Training sector and localities to repair flooded schools, stabilize teaching and learning soon, and prevent children from facing difficulties from going to school.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that at this time, it is necessary to promote the spirit of mutual love and support, helping each other to overcome the consequences of floods; reminding that the use of support funds must be public and transparent, ensuring that they reach the people soon.
