On September 9 (local time), Chairwoman of the Federation Council, Russian Parliament Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko chaired the official welcoming ceremony for National Assembly Chairwoman Tran Thanh Man.

Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Parliament Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko said that the Russian Federation attaches special importance to the visit of National Assembly Chairwoman Tran Thanh Man. The visit will not only help expand inter-parliamentary cooperation but also promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Vietnam.

Chairman of the Federation Council VI Matvienko affirmed that the relationship between the two countries has a history of nearly 75 years.

Ms. VI Matvienko believes that with a rich agenda, the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will once again affirm the special traditional friendship between the Russian Federation and Vietnam as well as with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man personally.

At the talks, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Federation Council Chairman VI Matvienko highly appreciated the achievements after 30 years of signing the Treaty on the basic principles of Vietnam-Russia friendship; more than 10 years of establishing the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, towards the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

The two Presidents agreed that the two sides should promote and expand cooperation commensurate with the tradition and comprehensive strategic partnership.

Both sides wish to continue promoting cooperation in the following areas: Economy, trade, investment, including oil and gas - energy; defense - security; science, education, training; culture, sports, tourism, health and cooperation between localities of the two countries.

These areas of cooperation are strong pillars in bilateral relations and need to be promoted more strongly.

The National Assembly Chairman thanked the National Assembly and the Government of the Russian Federation for their attention, creating favorable conditions and ensuring security for more than 60,000 Vietnamese people living, working and studying in Russia. The National Assembly Chairman suggested that Russia soon agree and sign agreements to attract Vietnamese workers to work and create favorable conditions for travel and exchange between citizens of the two countries.

Regarding National Assembly cooperation, the two Chairmen agreed to propose that the two sides continue to increase the exchange of high-level delegations of National Assembly leaders, cooperation activities between National Assembly agencies, Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups, Young Parliamentarians' Groups, Female Parliamentarians' Groups, and National Assembly deputies of the two countries. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the cooperation that Rostov province has shown towards Vietnam. The fact that Rostov province coordinated with Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to sign a cooperation agreement during the National Assembly Chairman's visit is a concrete proof.

The Vietnamese National Assembly supports comprehensive cooperation between Rostov Oblast and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Oblast as well as other localities of Vietnam.
