(QNO) - This afternoon, March 27, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue (PCTT&TKCN) issued a document requesting proactive response to cold air and dangerous weather at sea.

According to the bulletin of the provincial Hydrometeorological Station, due to the influence of cold air, it is forecasted that from the evening of March 29, localities in the province will have scattered rain, showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, it is necessary to be on guard against tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. At night and in the morning, it will be cold, with some places freezing.

From the afternoon of March 28, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the wind shifted to the Northeast and gradually strengthened to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, waves 2-3m high. In the northern sea area of ​​the North East Sea, the wind shifted to the Northeast, strong level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8, rough seas, waves 3-5m high.

To proactively respond to cold air and dangerous weather at sea, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control recommends that localities, agencies and units closely monitor forecasts and warnings about cold air and strong winds at sea.

Provide timely and complete information to authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent, respond, and protect production; proactively take measures to minimize damage caused by low temperatures, the risk of thunderstorms, whirlwinds, and hail.

The Provincial Border Guard Command, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the People's Committees, and the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Control of coastal localities closely monitor forecasts and warnings of dangerous weather at sea. Promptly notify captains, owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to have appropriate production plans and proactive measures to avoid strong winds and big waves. At the same time, maintain communication to promptly handle situations that may arise.

Strictly manage the activities of ships and boats at sea. Proactively ensure the safety of ships and boats (including boats in coastal communes, nearshore activities, tourist boats...), measures to ensure the safety of people, vehicles and property of people in coastal areas, on islands, on rafts and aquaculture areas; transport ships, tourism activities on islands and coastal areas. Proactively take measures to prevent coastal erosion.

Increase information about the development of cold air and strong winds at sea to authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent and respond.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control also requested owners of irrigation and hydropower reservoirs to monitor weather conditions and strictly operate according to approved procedures to ensure safety of the works and downstream areas.
