(CLO) The administration of outgoing US President Joe Biden announced another large arms aid package for Ukraine on Thursday. This is the third large US aid package for Kiev in just under 2 weeks.

White House spokesman John Kirby said the US will continue to provide additional assistance to Ukraine "through the end of this administration."

In the previous 10 days, the US government announced two large arms aid packages for Ukraine, worth $725 million and nearly $1 billion, respectively. The weapons included in the aid packages include missiles, ammunition, anti-personnel mines and other weapons.

As President Joe Biden’s administration nears its end, the administration is trying to “dump” the huge aid budget for Ukraine that the US Congress struggled to pass. The Biden administration is worried that President-elect Donald Trump will limit aid to Ukraine after taking office on January 20.

The latest US aid package on Thursday, which also uses Presidential Withdrawal Authority (PDA) to quickly move weapons from US stockpiles to the front lines, is expected to be worth about $500 million and include ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), according to a person briefed on the matter.

After this aid package, the PDA still has about $5.6 billion in aid for Ukraine. And it is not out of the question that President Biden will release all of this remaining budget before leaving the White House.
