Russia-Ukraine War December 9, 2024: According to Reuters, Mr. Donald Trump will cut aid to Ukraine to pressure Kiev to negotiate peace with Russia.
British news agency Reuters reported that US President-elect Donald Trump said Ukraine should not expect the current level of aid under the new US administration, which is expected to begin operations on January 20, 2025.
“ We should probably expect that Ukraine will not receive as much aid as it has received in the past ,” the 47th President of the United States said.
At the same time, Mr. Trump emphasized that he could not completely guarantee the end of the conflict in Ukraine. However, he declared that he would do everything in his power to end the war.

Ukrainian President Claims AFU Only Lost About 43,000 Soldiers
In his latest statement, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost only 43,000 soldiers since the start of the conflict and about 370,000 others have been wounded.
Mr. Zelensky also stated that about half of the wounded servicemen are returning to duty, in addition, the AFU records all injuries, including minor and recurrent ones.
In early December 2024, Mr. Zelensky said that the AFU had lost less than 80,000 troops in the conflict. He stressed that he could not disclose specific numbers, but they were significantly less than those reported by Western media.
US President-elect Donald Trump previously claimed that Ukraine had lost 400,000 troops in the conflict with Russia.
“ They have lost 400,000 soldiers and many more civilians… Too many lives lost needlessly, too many families destroyed and if this continues, it could escalate into something much bigger and much more terrible, ” Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.
AFU blows up Toretsk to stop Russian advance
South of Donetsk, the Russian army has successfully taken control of additional positions in the southwestern region in the direction of Velyka Novosilka, including the village of Blahodatne, the Military Summary channel reported.
In the direction of Uspenivka south of Kurakhove, the settlement of Veselyi Hai has changed hands and fighting is now taking place on the outskirts of the village of Hannivka.
In the direction of Pokrovsk, the Russian army is focusing on knocking out Shevshenko to create a springboard for attacks on surrounding settlements.
In Toretsk, the Russians have taken control of the mines in a deep assault. This has led the AFU to blow up strategically important buildings as they cannot stop the Russian advance. If the high-rise buildings are left standing, they could become strongholds for the Russians to use and attack.
Meanwhile, Russian troops are actively operating on the Oskil River south of Kupyansk.
Russia makes new progress at Kursk
According to Rybar channel, the Russian army carried out a series of attacks on enemy targets on Ukrainian territory and repelled AFU UAV attacks on positions deep inside Russian territory.
In the direction of Kursk, the Russian side drove out Ukrainian formations from the eastern outskirts of Plekhove and began clearing agricultural areas.
On the Oleksandrivka - Kalinovo axis, fighting continued in Toretsk (Dzerzhynsk), where Russian troops attacked along Mayakovsky Street in the center and in the Dzerzhinsky mine area in the Zabalka district.
At Pokrovsk, Russian assault squads had captured Solenenkaya Gully and were closing in on Dachenskoye, at the same time Russian assault groups were breaking through towards Novotroitskoye and south of Pushkino.
On the Kurakhove front, the Russians were also advancing along the northern shore of Lake Kurakhove, while on the southern flank, fighting was taking place in Sukhie Yaly and nearby settlements.
