In an interview after the launch of the Malaysian Semiconductor Industry Association AI Nexus (MAIN) in Penang on March 8, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said that the application of AI will not only help improve the operational efficiency of companies in the semiconductor sector, but also strengthen Kuala Lumpur's position as a global leader in the field.
Minister Gobind stressed that to become a global semiconductor hub, Malaysia not only needs to promote the application of new achievements but also master AI technology. Now is the time for Malaysian semiconductor companies to take the lead in integrating AI into production and business activities.
In the coming time, Malaysia needs to research and propose solutions to develop the semiconductor industry based on AI technology to meet the needs of the industry. This goal requires joint efforts from the semiconductor industry, AI developers, research institutes and policy makers.
Last December, Kuala Lumpur established the National AI Office (NAIO) to research and promote AI-related agendas. NAIO aims to provide the necessary support, resources, and guidance to help the semiconductor industry effectively harness AI.
