That is the confession of Mr. Ta Dinh Huy (42 years old) in Thuong Vuc commune, Chuong My district, Hanoi about the reason and motivation that made him become the inventor of multi-functional agricultural machines that many people admire. Cong Thuong Newspaper had a conversation with Mr. Ta Dinh Huy to better understand his contributions to the agricultural sector.
Can you share about the process of producing these unique agricultural machines and how the birth of this product has contributed to the agricultural production process?

I come from a farmer background, the area where I live is in contact with the fields all year round. From a young age, witnessing my mother's hard work and hardship in the fields and also experiencing that hardship has instilled in me the will and desire to find a solution to "support" and reduce the labor of the people. Therefore, the product I cherished to create was a multi-purpose machine that could serve well in the agricultural production process.
In fact, there are many types of agricultural machines from abroad on the market, many large and modern machines, but more importantly, how to create a machine with a suitable level of service, solving the manual work of farmers, and must be suitable for the budget, health conditions and farming model of farmers? And after many years of research and practice, my multi-purpose agricultural machine products were born.
As for the starting point, since 2008, I have created an agricultural machine from discarded materials to support people in plowing, hoeing, pumping, pulling, transporting... After many improvements, going through many stages, I have come up with a more perfect machine to be able to handle all farming tasks, integrating 23 functions (plowing, creating ridges, milling, harrowing, pumping water, creating seed rows, weeding the garden, digging coffee pots, turning biofertilizers, spraying pesticides, generating electricity, digging holes for planting trees...).
Currently, my multi-purpose agricultural machine products have been sold to all provinces in the country, about 1,000 machines per year. In addition, the products have also been exported to some countries such as Laos and Cambodia. Many overseas Vietnamese in these countries have heard the news and returned to buy and bring them "overseas" to use.
Thanks to the machines you invented, they have greatly supported farmers in the agricultural production process. Can you share about the current difficulties in developing your products?
The biggest difficulty is that it is very difficult to make a product competitive in the market. Currently, due to the lack of mass production technology, I have to import spare parts to assemble the product from abroad. Many details still have to be made manually. Meanwhile, if I order the production and then assemble it, the cost will be very high and not competitive in the market.
Second, although the products produced by the facility have met the basic needs of farmers and have achieved certain results, the current capital barrier makes it difficult for us to expand the scale of production. That is the reason why the product will be slow to develop and innovate. Therefore, I hope that my products will have the conditions to receive more investment, improve quality and especially have higher applicability. Therefore, I really hope that the relevant authorities will create conditions to promote products like ours to have the opportunity to develop.
In addition, another difficulty is that currently, the promotion and communication work for the product is still limited. As a manufacturing unit, we still lack experience in developing and expanding the consumer market. Therefore, we really need support from the authorities at all levels to promote and introduce the product so that it can be widely replicated and known by many people.
Furthermore, regarding production space. To expand production, we need land, however, we are currently facing difficulties in processing registration and licensing procedures. Accordingly, I hope that local authorities and agencies need to pay more attention to inventions, especially for farmers like me, regarding policies to help products be developed and widely replicated.
To achieve today's results is the result of hard work, so what do you share about your achievements as well as in the future, what are your plans to expand the product consumption market?
The process of completing the machine was not an easy time for me. As someone who has not attended any training course in mechanics or machine manufacturing, I produce agricultural machines with knowledge of motorbike repair. It takes a lot of time, doing it over and over again to create a complete product. From the first machines to the current machine, I have always researched based on the actual needs of farmers. I want farmers not to have to work hard, with their hands and feet covered in mud.
Looking back over the past 20 years, with my passion for invention, my production facility now has dozens of types of agricultural machines. In addition to multi-purpose agricultural machines, I have also introduced to the market many other types of machines such as: tea care machines, vegetable weeding machines, row-forming machines to support lily growers, ditch diggers, sprayers for dragon fruit, rice transplanters, wheelbarrows, tree grinders, etc. The price of each machine ranges from 8 to over 20 million VND. With the cost of each machine, the profit is not much, I mainly research and make it to help farmers have more leisure time.
I feel lucky to be able to live with my passion, and especially, my family's factory is now a place to solve seasonal jobs for more than 20 workers, of which 15 are regular workers with stable salaries. I always cherish the idea of passing on the profession to many young people in the commune who are passionate about the mechanical industry.
In particular, with my efforts, last year (2023), I was honored to win the first Hanoi City Technical Innovation Competition. That is a source of pride for an “old farmer” like me. It is also the motivation for me to be more determined for new products.
And to expand the product development market, I am currently researching the application of technology, producing automated agricultural machines, controlled by software installed on computers or smartphones, which will help farmers be more convenient and easier in the agricultural production process, in order to create labor value, higher productivity, and more efficiency.
