At the 9th anniversary celebration, the Vietnam Invention Association organized a seminar "Overcoming the gate of heaven based on invention, technology and intellectual property".
Invention is the resource that shapes the future
Sharing at the Seminar, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology - said that science, technology and innovation are not only the foundation but also a strong driving force for sustainable development.
Accordingly, the current global context is posing mandatory requirements for digital transformation, green transformation and sustainable development. Therefore, innovation activities are becoming more important than ever. New technologies and creative inventions can help optimize production processes, increase productivity and protect the environment.
“In this context, invention is not only a product of individual intelligence but also a strategic resource to shape the future development of the country. Vietnam has great opportunities to rise up but we also have to face significant challenges,” Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized.
According to Mr. Cuong, the inventions will create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to access advanced technology, thereby promoting the process of product and service innovation. The cooperation between inventors, R&D organizations and enterprises will open up new paths for the commercialization of inventions, turning ideas into useful products, contributing directly to economic development.
Sharing the process of applying technology and innovation in some countries that have similar contexts to Vietnam, Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Cuong said that in order for inventions to be encouraged and protected, Vietnam needs to perfect the legal system to protect intellectual property rights, ensuring that inventors are protected and receive fair value for their efforts. This also helps create a healthy and sustainable creative environment.
“Promoting innovation in the new context is not only a requirement but also a great opportunity for Vietnam. If we can create a favorable environment for innovation to develop, closely connecting science, technology, businesses and policies, I believe that inventions will become a key driving force for socio-economic development in the coming period,” Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Tran Giang Khue - Head of the Southern Office, Department of Intellectual Property - said that policies on intellectual property and innovation should be an inseparable part of the strategy and policies for economic, cultural and social development of localities and sectors.
Developing a synchronous and effective intellectual property system, creating an environment to encourage innovation and simplify administrative procedures, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of science, technology and innovation will improve the effectiveness of intellectual property rights enforcement in Vietnam.
Need to master core technology
The Resolution of the 6th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee directed that Vietnam needs to build a solid foundation in information technology, gradually master core technology and platform technology to ensure national security, digital data security, safe and smooth operation of the digital government and sustainable development of the digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens in the global digital era.
Only by mastering core and foundational technologies will Vietnam not depend on countries that provide technology and technological equipment. National databases, those of sectors, state management agencies, and organizations and businesses in the digital space will have their data security guaranteed.

In addition, the quantity of products produced on a small scale is still not competitive in terms of price with imported equipment of equivalent quality according to international standards. Therefore, products such as smartphones, computers, IoT... "Made in Vietnam" produced have not been consumed in the domestic market.

The State should also issue breakthrough policies to support technology enterprises and protect the consumption of high-tech products "Make in Vietnam", said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Vice President of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association.
According to Mr. Thang, the State should also have high-tech investment funds to invest with enterprises in key projects to research, design, manufacture, and test high-tech products "Make in Vietnam". The State will be the customer to advance money (with conditions) for enterprises to research, design, and manufacture high-tech equipment that meets the right technical and quality requirements to replace imported products.
