On the night of April 6, Nguyen Thai Son and Vo Nguyen Hoang arrived in Hanoi and joined the U23 Vietnam team. They played in the match between Thanh Hoa Club and Hai Phong Club at Lach Tray Stadium. Thai Son started and played for more than 80 minutes while Nguyen Hoang entered the field at the beginning of the second half.
The Thanh Hoa FC duo traveled from Hai Phong and spent more than 2 hours to reach the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). The players were somewhat sad as their home team had not known victory for 5 consecutive matches.
U23 Vietnam begins training to prepare for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship.
Thus, U23 Vietnam has enough players and officially started training on the afternoon of April 6. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will practice for 2 days at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (VFF) before leaving for Qatar on April 8. The U23 Vietnam squad has seen some minor changes before this important training session. Striker Nguyen Van Tung was called up at the last minute when Nguyen Thanh Nhan suffered a shoulder injury. The PVF-CAND striker did not recover in time from his injury and missed the chance to participate in the 2024 U23 Asian Cup.
Surprisingly, Vo Minh Trong still entered the field to play for Binh Duong Club in V.League 2023/2024. Previously, he was announced to be absent from the Vietnam U23 team due to injury.
In the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals, Vietnam U23 is in Group D with Kuwait, Malaysia and Uzbekistan. The two matches against Malaysia and Kuwait will be decisive for coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team.
