At the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals, the Vietnam U17 team is in Group B with matches scheduled against Australia U17 (April 4), Japan U17 (April 7) and UAE U17 (April 10).
Facing opponents that are considered superior, head coach Cristiano Roland is still confident in the competitiveness of U17 Vietnam.
The 49-year-old coach said the challenge for Vietnam U17 is huge. But the team has prepared carefully and is determined, striving towards the goal of passing the group stage to win a ticket to the 2025 U17 World Cup.

After the training session on the morning of April 3, Vietnam time, the best midfielder of the 2024 National U17 Tournament, Dau Hong Phong, said that the Vietnamese U17 players are ready both physically and tactically. Dau Hong Phong is currently one of the important central midfielders in the Vietnam U17 team. He is highly appreciated for his ability to control and distribute the ball flexibly.
At the 2024 National U17 Tournament, Phong made a great contribution to helping Hanoi U17 win the championship and personally received the title of Best Player of the Tournament.

Besides being strict on the training ground, the Brazilian coach also always cares, encourages and motivates his players. He believes that U17 Vietnam will create surprises against higher-rated opponents and complete the set goals.
According to FIFA's decision, from 2025, the U17 FIFA World Cup will be held annually instead of every two years. At the same time, the number of participating teams will increase from 24 to 48, in which Asia will be given 8 places to participate.
This means that the 8 teams that reach the quarter-finals of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship will qualify for the U17 World Cup.
