Typically: In December 2023, Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Police dismantled a football betting line using accounts on the agbong88.com website, arresting 9 subjects with a total transaction amount in more than 1 month of over 3.5 million USD, equivalent to about 176 billion VND; In April 2024, Ho Chi Minh City Police dismantled a football betting organization line via the Internet led by Tang Van Khai using 3 accounts to log in to the ibet888 website with a limit of 1,000,000 points, equivalent to 6 billion VND; In June 2024, Da Nang City Police dismantled an online soccer betting ring led by Nguyen Van Trung, with a soccer betting account limit of 100,000 Yen, equivalent to 1 billion VND.

The reality of the work of fighting and handling crimes related to football betting shows that:
Football betting is very diverse in form and scale: from spontaneous, simple, small formations to lines, gangs organized in cyberspace operating inter-provincially, cross-country, with very sophisticated tricks, the scale of tens of thousands of participants, the amount of money to gamble up to thousands of billions of dong. There are football betting lines formed by professional gambling organization leaders connecting with subjects, bookmakers managing betting websites, with servers located abroad to set up and divide into small groups to organize football betting in cyberspace in Vietnam, with many forms of advertising, attractive public invitations in Vietnamese. Players only need to have devices connected to the Internet, register for a membership account, open a personal account at a bank to be able to participate in betting.
In particular, many players are given gambling accounts and passwords along with an advance virtual amount of money to bet. If they lose and do not have money to pay, these subjects may use coercive measures to pay such as: illegal detention, extortion of property or hiring criminals to collect debts...
Football betting crimes in cyberspace have taken full advantage of the development of science and technology, operating in a complex and increasingly sophisticated manner. However, all criminal acts leave traces and will be detected, investigated and strictly handled by the authorities.
To proactively prevent and combat gambling crimes in the form of football betting on cyberspace, the Ministry of Public Security recommends:
Every citizen should fully recognize the good entertainment values of football, watch football with a healthy entertainment mentality; do not participate in football betting or organize football betting in any form.
Pay attention to management, education, and mobilizing relatives and people around to raise vigilance and stay away from football betting. In case of detecting suspicious subjects related to football betting, it is necessary to promptly report to the nearest police agency for reception and resolution.
The Ministry of Public Security has directed professional forces to use synchronous professional and technical measures to detect and strictly handle subjects organizing and participating in gambling in the form of football betting.
The Ministry of Public Security requested press and media agencies to actively participate in propaganda and warnings to raise awareness and vigilance among the people, coordinate in detecting crimes and violations of the law related to football betting, contributing to ensuring social order and safety and peaceful lives of the people, especially during the EURO 2024 season.
