According to IGN , there is more bad news for Call of Duty gamers who cheat, as Activision has just upgraded the anti-cheat system Ricochet with the ability to automatically close the game if it detects that the player has activated the aim assist feature while using the mouse and keyboard.

The announcement was made on X, and applies to the PC versions of Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2 , and Warzone .

"Our defenses will now target players who use mouse-keyboard aim assist," Activision said. "Call of Duty will automatically close if detected. Repeated use of this behavior may result in further account penalties."

Call of Duty will automatically close the game if it detects a player using mouse-keyboard cheats.

Aim assist has long been a controversial topic in the shooter community. The feature helps console players aim more easily, automatically moving the crosshair to follow enemies. However, this feature is not available to gamers using mouse and keyboard, as they already have the advantage of the inherent speed and accuracy of these devices.

For years, Call of Duty players have used unauthorized software and hardware like XIM and Cronus Zen to enable aim assist and reduce mouse-key rollover. Last year, Activision announced that Ricochet would detect these practices and ban cheaters.

Activision's latest move is said to target reWASD, a popular piece of software used to remap function buttons on keyboards, mice, and controllers. reWASD is capable of creating a virtual controller, thereby "tricking" the game into activating aim assist for mouse-keyboard users.

Activision's warning comes just before the Season 1 Reloaded update for Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 is released. This can be seen as a strong step by Activision in the fight against cheating, aiming to ensure a fair playing environment for all Call of Duty gamers.
