Recently, social networks suddenly shared a clip of Thuy Tien giving charity money to people in the Central region after the storm and flood in late 2020. Many people argued because the female singer counted 6 500,000 VND bills into 5 million VND.

Thuy Tien admitted to making some mistakes when distributing the money. However, she confirmed with local leaders and compensated for the missing amount.

On May 16, the female singer officially spoke up to explain the controversial clip above. Thuy Tien said that she woke up at 4am that day to go give money to people.

By 9pm, she had not had time to rest or eat. The charity distribution took place in the evening after a long and tiring journey. Therefore, the singer was too exhausted and could not avoid making mistakes and confusing some people.

“I am just a normal person, when tired or overworked, I sometimes make mistakes and let some people down.

However, any people who counted the missing money immediately reacted to the local leaders. When the distribution is finished, I will confirm with the local leaders and the people and then compensate them in full," Thuy Tien wrote on the blue tick Fanpage with more than 10 million followers.

Thuy Tien also provided a livestream of more than 18 minutes recorded on the evening of October 31, 2020. The singer confirmed that at the 13th minute, she gave more money to the people who were in need, with the confirmation of local leaders and police at the broadcast point.

Thuy Tien was also upset when she said that although the livestream was clear, many people intentionally edited and removed the following parts to spread false information. This caused her to be criticized for embezzling money.

At the same time, Thuy Tien also shared the livestream link recording the scene of her compensating the people and said that it had been confirmed by local leaders at the broadcast point.

In September 2021, Thuy Tien and her husband - soccer player Cong Vinh went to the bank to make a statement of their account when they were accused of embezzling charity money.

In January 2023, after investigation and verification, the Ministry of Public Security issued a document announcing that singer Thuy Tien, singer Dam Vinh Hung, MC Tran Thanh, and MC Dai Nghia did not commit any fraudulent acts or appropriate charity money contributed and supported by people to help the people of Central Vietnam.

In the near future, singer Thuy Tien and her husband, former football player Le Cong Vinh, will be summoned to court as people with obligations and rights related to the trial of Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang and 4 accomplices for abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals. The trial is scheduled for June 1 and will last for 5 days.
