According to the authorities, due to the current hot and dry weather, the forest fire risk is at level V (extremely dangerous level), to ensure good forest fire prevention and control, the organizing committee of the sports festival has agreed to stop the trekking activity.
The remaining activities will take place normally, starting from April 27.
Previously, on April 11, U Minh Ha National Park planned to organize the "U Minh Forest Fragrance" sports festival with the following events: 500m and 2,500m cross-country running; 5,000m forest walking; 800m canoe racing; competitive swimming on a sampan; eel catching competition; piloting a space for displaying agricultural products and performing local specialties and drinks.
Currently, the area of U Minh Ha forest and island forests in Ca Mau province has been dry for more than 37,500 hectares; of which the fire warning level IV (dangerous level) is more than 10,580 hectares and level V (extremely dangerous level) is more than 23,100 hectares.

This is the biggest forest fire in the past 10 years in Ca Mau, causing great damage to property, budget, environmental pollution, biodiversity, etc.
After the forest fire, the Chairman of Ca Mau province directed U Minh Ha National Park and related units to strengthen inspection and control, not allowing people to enter the forest during the peak of the dry season; promptly detect and strictly handle violations, absolutely not allowing forest fires to occur.
