According to Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan, although Vietnam has more than 14,000 OCOP products from nearly 8,000 entities, with the country's rich resources and the dynamic spirit of the people, businesses and cooperatives, what we have achieved is still modest in both quantity and quality.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan shared the joy with OCOP subjects in this event; at the same time, he affirmed that the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) Program has been playing a key role in affirming the value of rural products, helping products from all over the country not only get closer to domestic consumers but also reach out to the international market.
According to the Minister, the value space for OCOP products is still very large in terms of both quantity and quality. OCOP products not only have cultural and traditional characteristics but also meet high quality standards, suitable for the needs of domestic and international consumers.
“Up to now, after more than 6 years of implementation, Vietnam has had more than 14,000 OCOP products from nearly 8,000 entities. OCOP products have gradually approached the market, unleashing the potential and advantages of regions to develop the rural economy,” Minister Le Minh Hoan informed.
However, the Commander of the agricultural sector said that compared to the country's rich resources and the dynamic spirit of the people, businesses and cooperatives, what we have achieved is still modest in both quantity and quality.
According to Minister Le Minh Hoan, although Vietnam has more than 14,000 OCOP products from nearly 8,000 entities, with the country's rich resources and the dynamic spirit of the people, businesses and cooperatives, what we have achieved is still modest in both quantity and quality.
With the passion of a person attached to the Program and the OCOP product owners, Minister Le Minh Hoan shared that OCOP products are Vietnamese values and identities, therefore, OCOP products need to compete with cultural values when approaching the market.
“Today, consumers do not only buy products but also buy the “story that creates the product”. The more special the story, the more different the price, the easier it is to communicate and promote the product to the market. Therefore, the story needs to be built with different cultural values, indigenous knowledge, and must be shown on the packaging and labels”, said the Head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Emphasizing that the event VIETNAM OCOPEX - Exhibition of OCOP export products, contributes to bringing Vietnamese agricultural products on the "express train" to friends near and far, Minister Le Minh Hoan affirmed that the Exhibition of OCOP export products not only aims at exporting products but also stimulates the domestic market.
Subjects introducing OCOP products at the exhibition
At the Exhibition, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development called on domestic and foreign enterprises and large distribution centers to have policies to create favorable conditions to support the development of OCOP products.
“Whether Vietnamese or foreign enterprises operating in Vietnam can participate in leading the market for OCOP products. Business does not only have a single goal of seeking profit but also has responsibility to the community and society,” Minister Le Minh Hoan stated.
“In the coming time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will have joint activities with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. There will be direct and online forums to advise and train OCOP subjects to adapt to green consumption trends, the characteristics of each type of market, business management, cultural and social knowledge. That will be an environment to help subjects learn to be human, learn to do business, establish themselves, and start a career” - The Commander of the agricultural sector emphasized.
Mr. Le Ngoc Hue - Founder of the OCOP Journey program, Head of the Organizing Committee of MegaLive OCOP Journey - shared: "As a connecting unit and organizer of the MegaLive 'OCOP Journey' chain, we hope to bring Vietnamese agricultural products not only to develop strongly domestically but also to gradually conquer the international market. Our goal is to help participating businesses not only achieve sales but also expand their connection network, bringing products to many large supermarket systems."
