On March 21, the Ministry of National Defense held a conference to review the work of justice, inspection, legislation, auditing, and the work of Steering Committee 1389 in 2024 and the peak period of fighting against crimes and law violations before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025. Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of Steering Committee 1389 of the Ministry of National Defense chaired the conference. In 2024, the Party Committee, the Provincial Border Guard Command and the Party Committees and commanders of the Border Guard stations have regularly paid attention to effectively implementing the work of justice, inspection, legality and auditing in accordance with the direction of the superiors, with the spirit of solidarity, unity, promoting democracy, collective intelligence, closely following reality, ensuring the successful completion of assigned tasks. According to the report, in the past year, agencies and units have promptly advised and assisted the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense in leading and directing the improvement of the effectiveness of the work of building and perfecting institutions, policies and laws on military, national defense, cryptography and the fight against crime and law violations. Strictly, effectively and legally implementing investigation, prosecution, trial and execution activities; the quality of resolving cases and incidents has been increasingly improved. Directing the inspection, examination, investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of cases and cases to ensure compliance with the law, and to prevent injustice and wrongdoing. Directing the functional forces of the Border Guard and Coast Guard to proactively grasp the situation at the border and sea areas, promptly advising and proposing measures to combat and prevent crimes and law violations on the border lines, seas, and islands. The dissemination and education of law, international cooperation in the fields of justice, inspection, legislation, and crime prevention and control are increasingly focused, substantial, and effective.
The delegates' speeches at the conference also clearly demonstrated the determination and role of the Border Guard force in the fight against crimes in border areas such as: illegal entry and exit, smuggling, illegal transportation of fireworks; human trafficking and organizing illegal border crossings, especially drug-related crimes.
Concluding the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong praised and highly appreciated the efforts of agencies and units throughout the army. He requested agencies and units to continue to closely follow and seriously and effectively implement directives, resolutions and regulations of the Party, State and Ministry of National Defense on the work of building and perfecting institutions; judicial reform, administrative reform and the fight against crime. Strengthen inspection, examination and auditing to promptly detect, correct and handle violations, not allowing them to accumulate into major violations. He requested the Border Guard and Coast Guard to continue to step up patrolling, inspection, control and handling of law violations, fighting against crime, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods according to their authority; proactively grasp and forecast the situation, maintain security and order on the border and sea, especially in key areas.
At the end of the conference, the Ministry of National Defense awarded Certificates of Merit to 48 collectives and 48 individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against drug crimes; human trafficking; judicial work, inspection, legal affairs, auditing and 1389 work; anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2024 and the peak period before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025.
