Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training requests units to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement regulations on organizing the teaching of national defense and security education; current documents and guidance documents of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health on ensuring meal quality and food safety.
Facilities should promote the role and responsibility of heads of educational institutions, educational managers, lecturers, staff, and workers in organizing centralized meals and ensuring the quantity and quality of meals.
The Ministry of Education and Training requests that units organize centralized kitchens for students to study national defense and security education strictly and in accordance with regulations; ensure correct and sufficient meal quotas; public and transparent finances, no waste or loss; ensure food hygiene and safety.
Previously, reflecting to the press, some first-year students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that they had to study national defense and security education according to regulations and pay 1,630,000 VND for accommodation and meals for 2 weeks.
On average, the cafeteria of the Faculty of National Defense and Security Education, Hanoi University of Science and Technology serves nearly 2,000 meals a day for students studying national defense education at a price of 85,000 VND/day for 3 meals. Every day, the units march from the residential area to the A15 cafeteria, where the 2nd floor of this building is reserved for students studying national defense and security education.
However, most of the meals prepared on the tables were leftovers from a platoon's meals that had been eaten about an hour earlier. These students were tasked with collecting leftover rice from each table's bowls, mixing it, pouring it into trays, and then the cafeteria staff poured the leftover rice into a common rice bin and continued to distribute it to the units that came to eat later.
Not only was leftover rice reused, but half-eaten bowls of soup from each table were also collected by a kitchen staff and poured into a pot. Then, the students of the service squad were asked to put everything into a common pot of soup to share with their friends. In addition, students also discovered many types of foreign objects in their daily meals such as worms, flies, leaves, etc.
After verifying and confirming the above information is correct, the representative of Hanoi University of Science and Technology decided to terminate the contract with the current food supplier for new students studying national defense and security education; and transfer to another unit to provide meals that meet all quantitative and food safety standards.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology assigned the Student Affairs Department to supervise all aspects related to meals, from food to food portions, and to survey student opinions and set up QR codes to record their feedback. Through this method, the school will proactively grasp unusual events (if any) for timely handling.
At the same time, the school apologizes and hopes to receive sympathy and sharing from parents as well as students. The school considers this an opportunity to review and be more responsible for all work related to human resources, people in addition to professional work.
