Binh Thuan to host 3-Cushion Carom World Championship 2024

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just signed an official dispatch assigning the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation and relevant units to proactively deploy and prepare necessary conditions to organize the 2024 Carom 3-Cushion World Championship and the annual General Assembly of the World Billiard Federation.

Previously, in mid-June, the Provincial People's Committee and related units, together with the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, met to discuss choosing Binh Thuan as the venue for the 2024 3-Cushion Carom World Championship and the annual World Billiards Federation General Assembly meeting in September 2024.

In September 2022, the World Billiard Union (UMB) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, in which UMB granted the right to host the 3-Cushion Carom World Championship in 2024 (World Championship 3-Cushion 2024) to the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation.

Recently, Binh Thuan has been regularly authorized by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation to host many national Billiards tournaments and has been highly appreciated by managers and participating units for its thoughtful and enthusiastic organization, leaving many good impressions after the tournament. For the above reasons, the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation has confidently chosen Binh Thuan as the venue to host the World Championship 3-Cushion and the annual UMB General Assembly in September 2024. This is the most prestigious and quality tournament in the UMB competition system. UMB is the world's highest management organization for Carom recognized by the World Olympic Committee (IOC). The tournament is held once a year, starting from 1928 until now and this is the first time Vietnam has been honored to be chosen to host.

The World Championship 3-Cushion is a tournament that brings together the world's top players in the 3-Cushion Carom category and will take place over 5 days with a total prize value of 118,000 EUR. The annual session of the UMB General Assembly is usually held within the framework of the annual 3-Cushion Carom World Championship. Participants include the leaders of the Continental Federations and National Federations of the UMB system. The session will take place during the tournament (1 day).

In order to contribute to promoting the image of Binh Thuan in general and Binh Thuan tourism to international friends through the organization of the 3-Cushion World Championship and the annual UMB General Assembly, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee reports to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for permission to host the 2024 Carom 3-Cushion World Championship and the annual General Assembly of the World Billiard Federation in Binh Thuan.
