(Dan Tri) - Serbian tennis team captain Viktor Troicki said his compatriot Novak Djokovic was not treated fairly at the 2025 Australian Open.
Sharing with the press, Viktor Troicki expressed his opinion: "I don't understand why the audience at the Australian Open booed when Djokovic was injured. Even in football, a sport where the audience is much more enthusiastic, they don't do that.
If someone is injured, even the opposing fans clap to cheer the player up. Djokovic has won the Australian Open 10 times, but the Australian audience did that. It was an unacceptable lack of respect for him."

In the 2025 Australian Open semi-final against Alexander Zverev on January 24, Djokovic withdrew due to injury after losing 6-7 in the first set. Many Australian spectators were dissatisfied and booed Nole, claiming that the Serbian star did not try his best to serve the fans.
Alexander Zverev defended his senior when Djokovic was booed by Australian fans: "Novak is a warrior. It's heartbreaking to see him leave the court like this. People shouldn't boo a player when he has to leave the court due to injury.
I know the fans paid for tickets, but Djokovic has given his all to this sport for the last 20 years. Djokovic won this tournament with a stomach and hamstring injury. Show him some love."
With a torn thigh muscle, Djokovic may have to rest for several months and he will miss many major tournaments such as Indian Wells, Miami Open, Monte Carlo, Madrid Open, Rome Masters. The tennis player born in 1987 hopes to return in time for Roland Garros at the end of May.
