Although he passed the high school graduation exam, this candidate missed 67 days of school and was not eligible to take the exam, so his results were canceled.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced that it has decided to cancel the 2023 high school graduation exam results of a candidate from the Binh Tan District Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center, on August 18.

Last school year, this candidate missed 67 days. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, students are not allowed to move up to the next grade if they miss more than 45 days. The student's 12th grade academic results were average, with poor conduct. The student's report card clearly stated that he was not allowed to take the graduation exam. Therefore, this candidate is not eligible to take the high school graduation exam.

However, the student still has an exam notice issued by the center, has taken the exam and achieved 23.4/40 points. Of which, the candidate achieved 4.4 points in Literature, 6.5 points in Math, 6.75 points in History and 5.75 points in Geography, qualifying for graduation.

The Department requested the People's Committee of Binh Tan District to review and handle the officials, teachers, and employees involved in evaluating and preparing the registration file for the 2023 high school graduation exam for this student.

On August 7, Mr. Pham Van Dung, Deputy Director of the Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center of Binh Tan District, said that at the time of issuing graduation exam notices, the center had a vacant director position, and the district assigned him to be in charge until July 14.

This job was originally for another deputy director, but he was busy so he asked Mr. Dung to sign 235 exam registration forms.

"Before signing, I asked the academic staff if they had checked it correctly. The academic staff informed me that they had checked it carefully, so I signed quickly to send it to the student in time," said Mr. Dung.

On July 24, when this student came to receive his temporary graduation certificate, the academic staff discovered the incident and reported it to the board of directors. Only then did Mr. Dung learn that there was a list of students who were not eligible to take the graduation exam, along with 235 exam registration forms, but he was not provided with this list at the time of signing.
