The results of the 10th grade mock exam at specialized schools caused surprise.

The Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has just announced the results and score distribution of the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025. Accordingly, the school organized the exam on March 29-30 with the participation of about 1,060 students taking 3 compulsory exams: math, literature, English and specialized subject exam.

The results of the 10th grade entrance exam announced by the school showed that out of 1,060 non-specialized math exams, 714 scored 5 points or less (accounting for 67.3%). Of these, 264 exams scored 0 to 2; 183 exams scored 2 to 3 points; 250 exams scored 3 to 4 points; and 117 exams scored 4 to 5 points. The average score for non-specialized math was 4.02 and 18 exams scored 10 points.

There were 942 non-major literature exams, with an average score of 5.95. The highest score was 9.3.

Non-major English subject, there are 1,007 exams, of which 674 exams have a score of 5 or higher. The average score of this subject is 5.72.

In specialized mathematics, there were 312 exams, of which 270 scored 5 points or less, accounting for 86.5%. Of these, there were 160 exams with scores from 0 to 2, accounting for 51%; 49 exams with scores from 2 to 3; 41 exams with scores from 3 to 4 and 20 exams with scores from 4 to 5. The average score for specialized mathematics was 2.47. There was one exam with the highest score of 9.25.

Regarding the above math statistics, Dr. Tran Nam Dung, Vice Principal of Gifted High School, shared with the press that he has no comment on specialized math, but regarding non-specialized math, the above results are really a bit worrying.

According to Dr. Tran Nam Dung, non-major subject exams are usually quite easy, if students cannot get 2 points then there must be a problem. Or it could be in the exam, for example, it is too difficult or too strange, or it could be in the teaching and learning, the capacity development is not enough.

In addition, the Gifted High School announced that it will continue to organize the second 10th grade mock exam on April 26-27 with a fee of 150,000 VND/subject.

It is known that in the 2025-2026 school year, the Gifted High School will enroll 595 students in grade 10. The school's official entrance exam will take place on May 24-25.
