In recent years, Journalism and Communication has always been considered one of the top choices for high school graduates nationwide. The large number of students taking the exam and the high quality have caused the entrance score for this major to increase sharply.
For example, in the 2024 admission season, the admission score for the Multimedia Communication major was up to 28.25 points, in the combination of 3 subjects Literature, Mathematics and Social Sciences (average 9.41 points/subject). For the Journalism major, specializing in Television Journalism, Combination D78, including English doubled, Literature and Social Sciences, the benchmark score was up to 37.21 points (average 9.31 points/subject). These are the highest admission scores in the entire block of universities in Social Sciences.
In the process of innovation, arrangement, and streamlining the apparatus of the political system, Journalism is one of the first sectors to implement, creating certain fluctuations for students before the threshold of university, and also journalism students. Many students are more cautious when asked about choosing a major in Journalism - Communication.

Many students become more cautious when asked about choosing a major in Journalism and Communications.
According to lawyer Truong Thanh Duc, Director of Anvi Law Firm, the above concerns are only temporary, because the process of arranging and streamlining the apparatus of the political system is in its initial stages, and many sectors and fields still need to be streamlined, in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire political system.
Mr. Pham Trung Tuyen, Deputy Director of VOV Traffic ( Voice of Vietnam Radio Station ) said that if one truly has journalistic skills, one will never have to worry about lack of work.
"Those who leave the press agencies, if they really have professional skills, will quickly find new jobs. Of course, those must be jobs that require them to really work and apply their experience, not just do it perfunctorily and expect to enjoy the results," said Mr. Tuyen.
From the perspective of a training institution for journalism students, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang, Deputy Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, assessed that fluctuations in job opportunities affect the school's enrollment work, but this is also considered an opportunity and a useful filter.
"There will no longer be a situation where many students choose to study Journalism following the trend like in previous years. In the future, students pursuing this major will be those who truly love the profession and are passionate about it. This is a positive signal for the school's training work," said Ms. Giang.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang, when the opportunities for the Journalism industry decrease, the Communications industry (such as Multimedia Communications, Mass Communications, Public Relations) is still considered attractive with wide career opportunities in the future.
In recent times, the Academy of Journalism and Communication has always focused on building training programs for these majors in a modern direction, keeping up with international trends and receiving positive reviews from employers.
In recent years, although the global Press industry's revenue has decreased, the total revenue of the Media sector (including the Press industry) is still increasing. This shows that the overall Press - Media activities are not shrinking, but are changing from one form to another, following the development of science and technology and the general trend of the times.
"Job opportunities for students majoring in Journalism and Communication are still very large, as long as they choose a major that is suitable for their abilities and in line with the trends of this field," Ms. Giang affirmed.
