Ben Tre focuses on speeding up progress of key transport projects
Ben Tre speeds up the construction of key transport infrastructure projects to connect within the province and between regions, especially connecting ports, goods distribution centers, and tourist areas to develop the province's economy.
According to the Department of Transport of Ben Tre, by the end of June 2024, the Rach Mieu Bridge Construction Project (connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, with a length of about 17.6 km, of which Ben Tre occupies a larger length, with 9.6 km) is ensuring implementation progress, implementing 6/6 construction packages with a total contract output value of 1,666/3,302.882 billion VND, reaching 50.45%. In this province, Construction Package 04 (output 294.090/351.29 billion VND, reaching 83.72%), Construction Package 05 (output 289.485/428.4 billion VND, reaching 67.57%), Construction Package 06 (output 210.491/400.7 billion VND, reaching 52.53%) is being constructed.

For the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Site Clearance Sub-project invested by the Ben Tre Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the site clearance work has been basically completed; the relocation of 110 kV and 220 kV high-voltage power lines has been completed; and 4 pairs of low-voltage power poles are being urgently relocated to hand over the site to the construction unit.
With the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Access Road Project, Package No. 1 (Chau Thanh district, including Ba Lai bridge, Tam Son bridge), the bridge part has been basically completed, the road part is still under construction, the estimated work volume is 60%. In Package No. 2 (Ben Tre city, including Song Ma bridge), the bridge and road part is still under construction, the estimated work volume is 35%, the site clearance work has been basically completed.
Belonging to the coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang province, the Cua Dai Bridge Construction Project (Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee is the project investment management agency) has a total length of about 8.9 km. Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee has issued Document No. 1295/TTr-UBND dated March 7, 2024 to the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Finance on the appraisal and approval of the Pre-feasibility Study Report, with a total estimated investment of VND 4,750 billion and Document No. 2060/TTr-UBND dated April 4, 2024 to the Prime Minister on the investment in the construction of Cua Dai Bridge connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, and Co Chien 2 Bridge connecting Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces using central budget funds.
The Ba Lai 8 Bridge Project on the coastal road was approved by the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 3036/QD-UBND dated December 26, 2023, with a total investment of VND 2,255 billion. The locality is selecting a contractor for Construction Package No. 2; and is appraising the design drawings for Construction Package No. 1.
Regarding the Project of constructing a coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces under the Development Policy Program (DPO) with targeted support for the Mekong Delta, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province has sent Document No. 1200/TTr-UBND dated March 4, 2024 to the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Finance on completing the Project proposal, with a total estimated investment of VND 7,905 billion.
Regarding the Co Chien 2 Bridge Construction Project connecting Ben Tre Province and Tra Vinh Province (Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee is the project investment management agency), Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee has submitted Document No. 5929/TTr-UBND dated December 29, 2023 to the Prime Minister for approval of the project's Pre-Feasibility Study Report, with a total estimated investment of VND 3,500 billion. Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee also submitted Document No. 2060/TTr-UBND dated April 4, 2024 to the Prime Minister regarding project investment using central budget capital.
Regarding the Dinh Khao Bridge Project (the People's Committee of Vinh Long province is the investment management agency), the People's Council of Ben Tre province approved the Resolution on using the provincial counterpart budget to carry out site clearance in the province in Resolution No. 06/NQ-HDND dated April 24, 2024. The Ministry of Planning and Investment is appraising the project's feasibility study report.
The project to dredge the Tien River (Cua Dai) from Binh Thang estuary to Thua My estuary, Binh Dai district, Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee has approved the feasibility study report in Decision No. 1414/QD-UBND dated July 4, 2023. The Department of Transport has issued Document No. 2040/TTr-SGTVT dated August 15, 2023 to advise the Provincial People's Committee to develop a plan to implement the project. The Department is coordinating with relevant units to review and complete the feasibility study report for re-approval according to Decree No. 57/2024/ND-CP of the Government as a basis for project implementation...
Mr. Cao Minh Duc, Director of Ben Tre Department of Transport, said that with the determination to ensure the progress of traffic projects in the area according to the direction of the provincial leaders, Ben Tre will continue to coordinate with ministries, branches and related units to implement important traffic projects. Accordingly, the construction progress of Rach Mieu 2 bridge and the access road to Rach Mieu 2 bridge will be accelerated, and investment procedures for the coastal road projects connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang province and Tra Vinh province will be quickly coordinated, Dinh Khao bridge connecting Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces and Ba Lai 8 bridge on the coastal road will be implemented.
At the same time, the unit will coordinate with departments, branches and localities to effectively carry out tasks related to investment and upgrading of traffic infrastructure, closely combining with the management of construction structures and ensuring traffic safety in the area.
