Tien Sa Port welcomes ships with a capacity of nearly 50,000 DWT

DNO - On October 9, Da Nang Port announced that the Ministry of Transport has just approved wharf No. 1 of Tien Sa wharf (Da Nang port) to receive ships with a capacity of up to nearly 50,000 DWT from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport approved the policy to allow wharf No. 1 of Tien Sa port of Da Nang Port (belonging to Da Nang seaport) to receive ships with a tonnage of up to 49,999 DWT to enter and leave the port.

The Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Maritime Administration to guide investors in the process of receiving ships in accordance with relevant legal regulations to ensure maritime safety and maritime security.

At the same time, direct and thoroughly inform the maritime port authority and related units to strengthen inspection and review to prevent negative behaviors, causing difficulties and harassment in public service activities, avoid omissions, create loopholes "ask - give" in the implementation of plans, consider allowing ships with larger tonnage than the decision to declare not fully loaded to enter and exit wharves and ports...

Previously, Da Nang Port sent a document to the Vietnam Maritime Administration requesting permission for ships with a length of 199.99m and a deadweight of 49,999 DWT to enter and leave TS1A wharf of Tien Sa Port to load and unload wood chips and general cargo from the fourth quarter of 2024.

According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, based on the Master Plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, Tien Sa wharf area of ​​Da Nang seaport is planned for general cargo ships and bulk cargo with a capacity of up to 50,000 tons.

According to the report of the Danang Maritime Port Authority, based on the actual handling of wood chip ships with technical specifications equivalent to the above-mentioned ship size entering and leaving TS1A wharf of Tien Sa port in the past, the ship size entering wharf No. 1 of Tien Sa port is suitable for the actual conditions of maritime infrastructure.

It is known that previously, Da Nang Port installed a monitoring station at Tien Sa port since October 2023, completed the installation of additional information required for monitoring according to the content of the document of the Vietnam Maritime Administration and officially operated from August 1, 2024.
