Hurricane Lee approaches the east coast of North America on the morning of September 15.
NATIONAL OCEANIC AND ATMORTICAL AGENCY (NOAA)
Lee's biggest impact on the United States is the risk of coastal flooding and tropical storm-force winds in parts of New England, where a state of emergency has been declared. A hurricane warning is also in effect for the southern coast of Canada.
Canadians and Americans along the coast are being urged to stay indoors. Although the storm is expected to weaken and potentially veer off course, the Canadian Hurricane Center is still urging people to prepare for widespread flooding and power outages.
Before making landfall, Lee churned across the Atlantic Ocean for more than a week but did not cause significant damage, according to The New York Times .
