International press highly appreciates the General Secretary's mark and role

After the Party, State and Government of Vietnam announced the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, many foreign news agencies and newspapers simultaneously published information, quoting many famous sayings and diplomatic marks of the General Secretary, as well as emphasizing the role of the General Secretary in the cause of Party building, national development, and enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena.

On July 19, Xinhua News Agency (China) reported that General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong passed away at the age of 80 and posted a series of photos of the General Secretary's activities at important events.

Many Chinese experts, scholars, and friendship figures have expressed deep sorrow upon hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, while affirming the important role of the General Secretary in Vietnam's development and the relationship between the two countries.

In Cuba, July 20 is the first day of mourning for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong. All of Cuba's mainstream media outlets have published articles about the passing of a great brother and friend of the Cuban people.

Articles “An irreparable loss for Cuba,” “Vietnam loses a world-class leader” Many news and articles about the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong were published on the front pages of online newspapers such as Grama, Prensa Latina, CAN, Cubadebate, Radiorebelde, Radiohc, Cubasi and Radioreloj.

Cuba's online newspaper cubadebate.cu published an article by Dr. Ruvislei González Saez, praising the great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the country's development.

Dr. Ruvislei González assessed that there are few leaders like General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who possess the capacity to be both a political strategist and an excellent theorist of the socio-political system leading the country and is very loved by the people.

Many leading newspapers and news agencies in Cambodia such as: Cambodian National Radio, Cambodian National Television, Cambodian News Agency (AKP), Fresh News online newspaper, Thmey Thmey newspaper, Dap News website... all reported and summarized the biography of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Cambodian press has made assessments, expressing admiration and respect for the personality of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, as well as Vietnam's domestic and foreign achievements under the leadership of the General Secretary.

Cambodian press commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an exemplary communist, deeply imbued with Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong devoted himself to serving the nation until his last moment. He is a leader of outstanding influence in the Communist Party of Vietnam, with outstanding achievements in directing the anti-corruption campaign and consolidating the Party's prestige.

In particular, the Cambodian press also expressed admiration for Vietnam's diplomatic achievements under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, notably the "Vietnamese bamboo" foreign policy, flexible and adaptable in each practical situation, but also very strong and steadfast with the goals and interests of the country and people.

Cambodian press reported prominently on the fact that senior Cambodian leaders (King Norodom Sihamoni, President of the Senate/President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen, Prime Minister Hun Manet, President of the National Assembly Khuon Sudary...) sent letters/telegrams of condolences to the leaders and people of Vietnam.

Russia's TASS news agency on the evening of July 19 affirmed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is the head of Vietnam's political system and has held many important positions.

Recently, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vietnam for a state visit.

TASS reported: "Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong assessed President Vladimir Putin's visit as very important. According to him, relations between Russia and Vietnam are developing effectively. He proposed discussing further measures to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries."

TASS also devoted a lot of space to publishing an article on its main page detailing the biography of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, especially emphasizing his role in the fight against corruption of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In the article titled "The life, career and greatest legacy of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong" posted on Sputnik news agency (Russia) has a paragraph: "General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding politician of Vietnam, a loyal communist soldier, devoted his whole life and career to the country and the people, loved both at home and abroad. With 80 years of age but nearly 57 years of Party membership, 14 years of leading the Communist Party of Vietnam as General Secretary, more than 2 years as President and 5 years as Chairman of the National Assembly, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is always concerned and devoted to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, to the Party's anti-corruption campaign."

In the live program on July 19 of Channel 1, political scientist - former State Duma (Lower House) deputy of Russia Vyacheslav Nikonov sent his deep condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

Political scientist Nikonov called General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong a “great friend of Russia,” emphasizing that: “He was truly a great friend of our country and a person who had a great influence on the successful development of relations between the two countries. We deeply remember comrade Nguyen Phu Trong.”

The Communist Youth Komssomol (Russia) Truth page highlights that under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has achieved the greatest achievements in the economic, political and social fields, ensuring a stable growth rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Many major newspapers in the US have also published articles about the leadership career of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Washington Post article emphasized that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has led Vietnam into a period of greater economic openness and has also taken a more aggressive approach to fighting corruption, thereby rekindling public confidence in the Party’s leadership of Vietnam’s economy – one of the most dynamic in the region, with a growing startup sector.

Meanwhile, the New York Times commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an honest and simple leader. Under his leadership, Vietnam has enhanced its reputation in the international arena and is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia.

The AP news agency (USA) emphasized the role of the General Secretary in the fight against corruption. The major American news agency also mentioned the General Secretary's mark in the foreign policy school, the "Vietnamese bamboo" diplomacy in the current context.

CNBC (USA) on July 20 quoted a statement from the US Embassy in Hanoi, emphasizing that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is "a visionary leader who has been a bridge between Vietnam and the US, as well as the entire international community for decades."

Japanese press believes that Vietnam's most outstanding achievements during the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are high economic growth, enhanced position in the international arena and a policy of "comprehensive, multi-directional and balanced diplomacy" in the context of a polarized world.

On July 19, Japanese broadcaster NHK aired a lengthy report highlighting General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's contributions to Vietnam's national construction, protection and development, as well as his important contributions to diplomatic relations with countries including Japan.

NHK television, Nikkei newspaper, and Yomiuri newspaper all commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has implemented “comprehensive diplomacy” to consolidate and maintain good relations with the US, China, Japan, Russia and other countries, and led multi-directional diplomacy even as the international community becomes increasingly polarized.

The Asahi newspaper emphasized that under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has positioned its bilateral relationship with Japan as a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; trade exchanges and the sending of technical interns have also deepened. In 2015, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited Japan and met with then Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.

Nikkei Asia, Yomiuri and Asaki newspapers also recalled that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has carried out a thorough, historic crackdown on corruption in a rapidly growing economy and won public support, thereby strengthening the Party's central role.

The Japanese economic newspaper Nikkei assessed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has contributed to Vietnam's high growth rate thanks to its participation in free trade agreements and other measures. Vietnam has attracted foreign manufacturing companies through measures such as joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Global corporations from US tech giant Apple, to Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo and others are expanding their supply chains in Vietnam - a market that is becoming a hub for textiles and technology products.

Summarizing the career of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, The Nation newspaper (Thailand) emphasized the General Secretary's anti-corruption stance, considering this issue a serious threat to the Party's reputation, position, leadership and ruling role.

Thailand's Bangkok Post wrote that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a strong supporter of opening the country to foreign investment. Under the leadership of the General Secretary, Vietnam has transformed itself into one of the developed economies by signing many free trade agreements with countries in and outside the region.

The article in Bangkok Post also quoted scholars, affirming that "General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is certainly the most influential politician of the 21st century in Vietnam."

Major Indonesian media agencies and newspapers such as Nusantara Post, RMOL.ID, Jakarta Globel, Kompas, CNN-Indonesia, Metro TV, Liputan-6, IndonesiaSatu... also simultaneously reported the sad news, highly appreciating the General Secretary's contributions to the construction and development of Vietnam as well as strengthening diplomatic relations.

In particular, on July 19, Indonesia's "Nusantara Post" published an article about the portrait of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, praising him as someone who "created a profound resonance in the structure of modern Vietnam, a prominent figure in Vietnamese politics, holding the important position of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam since 2011."

On July 20, Indonesian news site RMOL.ID published an article about the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the age of 80, emphasizing that the General Secretary was known as a strong person fighting corruption and opening up strong relations between Vietnam and other countries.

The financial newspaper “Kontan” quoted the international press’s assessment of the great role of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in promoting Vietnam’s economic growth and flexible “bamboo diplomacy” policy.

European news agencies all emphasized the General Secretary's mark in foreign affairs, achieving many successes with his "bamboo diplomacy" policy, and at the same time published the deep impressions of US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin about the General Secretary as "a close friend, a visionary leader, who has been a bridge between Vietnam and other countries for decades."

Le Monde and Le Figaro (France) simultaneously reported that General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong passed away at the age of 80 and published detailed biography of the General Secretary and important milestones. In addition, regarding foreign affairs, according to AFP (France), during the term of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has strengthened relations with countries, including some major countries.

The Guardian and Reuters (UK) news agencies have articles highlighting the leadership role of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong over the past decade, when Vietnam achieved rapid economic growth and upgraded relations with countries around the world.

According to the Financial Times (UK), as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (since 2011) and President (2018-2021), comrade Nguyen Phu Trong "played a central role in Vietnam's economic development."

The Financial Times commented that the General Secretary also has an important role in balancing Vietnam's relations with major countries.

The German news agency (DW) reviewed important milestones in the political career of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, affirming that the General Secretary is the "architect" of the anti-corruption campaign in Vietnam.

Belarus' BelTA news agency reported on July 19 that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, reviewing the main features of his career, affirming that he was the second person in modern Vietnamese history to hold both the position of leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the highest leader of the State (October 2018 to April 2, 2021).

Quoting Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the newspaper "Belarus Today" stated: "The development of modern Vietnam is closely linked to the style of that outstanding politician."

"The efforts of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in strengthening the Party's role in society and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers are widely known around the world."
