Thailand's capital Bangkok welcomed 22.78 million international visitors in 2023, surpassing two major European cities, Paris and London.

According to a report by international payment corporation Mastercard, three Thai cities including Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya are in the list of "20 most visited cities in the world" in 2023.

Bangkok continues to lead the way thanks to its vibrant street life, temples and impressive cuisine. The names following in the list are Paris (France) - 19.1 million; London (UK) - nearly 19.1 million; Dubai (UAE) with nearly 16 million and Singapore (Singapore) with nearly 14.7 million.

"Enjoy the convenience of the city with its large shopping malls before visiting the golden temples and pagodas. Follow the scent to countless street markets with all the sour, spicy, sweet, salty flavors and hop on a boat to visit the floating markets", excerpt from the report on the Bangkok travel experience.

Phuket and Pattaya ranked 14th and 15th on the list, with nearly 9.9 million and 9.5 million visitors, respectively. Although Phuket dropped two spots from last year, the report said the destination remains popular for its stunning beaches, limestone islands and national parks. Phuket’s stunning coral reefs also entice visitors to dive and explore. Visitors can also take cooking classes, visit temples and wildlife sanctuaries.

Meanwhile, Pattaya rose three places from last year, famous for its endless beach fun and downtown partying. Although it also has beautiful temples and shrines, Pattaya is better known for its beach resorts.

The rest of the top 10 list is Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), New York (USA), Istanbul (Türkiye), Tokyo (Japan), Antalya (Türkiye).
