Implementing the project on economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas (Sub-project 1 - Project 3) under the National Target Program for the period 2021-2025, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Son district has just completed the handover of 102 spotted deer for velvet to 34 households in Yen Luong commune (3 deer per household), including 7 poor households, 17 near-poor households, 3 newly escaped poverty households and 7 good production and business households. The total implementation cost is over 2 billion 815 million VND, of which the State supports 95% and the people contribute 5%.
Representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Son district presented spotted deer for velvet to people of Yen Luong commune.
Currently, Yen Luong commune has established a cooperative group to raise sika deer for velvet. Initially, there were only 5 deer, but now after receiving support from the project, the whole commune has 112 sika deer with 34 participating households. In the near future, Yen Luong commune will establish a cooperative to raise sika deer to supply velvet to markets inside and outside the district.
People are happy to receive support.
Households must fully prepare barn conditions, breeding techniques and food before receiving supported breeds.
The donation of spotted deer for antlers aims to help, support, and provide means of production, create livelihoods for poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households to have more conditions to develop the economy, stabilize their lives, and increase their income; at the same time, overcome difficulties, strive to stabilize their lives, and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.
