The Ministry of Transport and 8 localities were assigned an additional 13,800 billion VND to implement the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressways.
The resolution of the regular Government meeting on December 15 assigned the Ministry of Finance to develop a plan to allocate the central budget for the Ministry of Transport and 8 localities to implement the three key projects mentioned above, and submit it to the Prime Minister before December 20.
Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway has a total investment of nearly 22,000 billion VND, is 117.5 km long, starting from the intersection of National Highway 26B - National Highway 1 (Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa), ending at the intersection with Ho Chi Minh road, east of Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak).
The project consists of 4 lanes, 17 m wide, and is expected to be operational in 2027. When completed, this expressway will create a horizontal axis connecting the Central Highlands region with the South Central Coast and connecting with the North-South Expressway, Ho Chi Minh Road, National Highway 1, coastal roads...
The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is 54 km long, has 4-6 lanes, and a total investment of VND17,800 billion. Construction started in June. However, most of the 34 km through Dong Nai (289 hectares with 3,400 affected households) has not been completed, while Ba Ria - Vung Tau has handed over nearly 96%.
The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway, over 188 km long, passing through 4 provinces in the West, with a total investment of nearly 44,700 billion VND, has also started construction. The route starts at National Highway 91 in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province; ends at Tran De Port, Soc Trang. Of which, the section through An Giang is nearly 57 km long, Can Tho is nearly 38 km, Hau Giang is about 37 km and Soc Trang is 56 km long.
Phase one of the project includes 4 lanes, 17 m wide, speed 80 km/h. When completed, the road surface will be expanded to more than 32 m with 6 lanes. The entire route is expected to be completed in 2027, forming a key horizontal traffic route in the Mekong Delta region.

In the resolution, the Government also requested the Ministry of Transport to speed up the progress of key projects. My Thuan 2 Bridge, My Thuan - Can Tho route, Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho route need to be inaugurated and put into operation in December.
Dien Chau - Bai Vot and Cam Lam - Vinh Hao projects strive to be completed in 2024.
The Ministry of Transport coordinates with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and localities to provide sufficient materials for key projects; concludes on using sea sand as filling material, to be completed in December. At the same time, the Ministry urgently completes the North-South high-speed railway project, submits it to the Government Standing Committee before January 31, 2024 for submission to the Politburo for consideration and decision in March next year.
Localities focus on constructing traffic routes, especially highways passing through the area.
