Accordingly, “Apple House” provides meaningful statistics on the application review process, including the number of rejected applications, the number of customer and developer accounts deactivated, the number of applications removed from the App Store, data related to queries and search results, etc.
According to the data, in 2022, the App Store had a total of more than 1.7 million applications, with more than 6.1 million reviews (an application can be submitted for review multiple times) and 1.6 million rejections for reasons related to safety, performance, design or legality.
There were about 186 thousand apps removed from the App Store for violating the rules, the majority of which were in the Games category, followed by Utilities, Business and Education.
Apple also pointed out that the Chinese government topped the list of requests to remove apps from the store, with 1,435 apps, including 1,276 Gaming apps removed due to not being licensed in the mainland.
In terms of developer numbers, as of 2022, there were nearly 37 million developers registered with Apple, and more than 420,000 developer accounts were removed from the Developer Program, with the most common reason being that these accounts were connected to previously suspended accounts.
The report also said that Apple recorded an average of more than 656 million weekly visitors, 747 million app downloads, and more than 373 million searches. In addition, more than 282 million Apple ID accounts were suspended last year.
Regarding applications of Vietnamese origin, statistics show that Apple has removed more than 8,400 applications from developers, of which Games accounted for 4,561 applications, followed by Utilities (800 applications) and Entertainment (726 applications) with the main reasons being design violations (4,657 applications) and fraud (3,626 applications).
During the same period, China and the US were the two countries with the most applications removed from the App Store, with more than 40,000 applications and more than 32,000 applications, respectively.
Not only that, "Apple House" said it blocked more than 2.09 billion USD of fraudulent transactions on the App Store, removing more than 147 million fake app reviews in 2022.
