Located in Tam Coc-Bich Dong tourist area, Tam Coc rice fields are a masterpiece of nature and man, creating a simple beauty by the harmony between the immense land and sky and the fruits of human labor. Different from the wild and majestic beauty of the terraced fields in the Northwest mountains, Tam Coc rice fields bring a gentle, poetic beauty, winding with rivers, mountains, clouds and sky of the Northern Delta.
Every year, when the rice fields on both sides of the Ngo Dong River are golden ripe, it is also the time when Ninh Binh opens its Tourism Week with many unique and attractive cultural and artistic activities.
In 2018, Ninh Binh Tourism Week was held for the first time to honor the unique natural landscape values and unique culture of the land and people of Hoa Lu Ancient Capital. At the same time, the event is an activity to promote and introduce Ninh Binh's tourism products and services to domestic and international tourists; continuing to affirm the brand and position of Ninh Binh tourism as a safe, friendly, quality and attractive destination.
After being interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, this event has now become an annual, attractive tourism activity, anticipated by many domestic and foreign tourists. Through the organization of Ninh Binh Tourism Week with the theme "The Golden Color of Tam Coc - Trang An", it has created a positive effect, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to destinations across the province, contributing to stimulating tourism demand in Ninh Binh during the low season.
This year, on the basis of existing activities, Ninh Binh has many innovations and creations to enrich the experience activities, tourism products, creating a good impression on tourists. In particular, the highlight of this year's Tourism Week is the painting "Shepherd playing the flute" on an area of nearly 10,000m2 at Hai Cave, Tam Coc rice fields.
"The artwork on the rice fields in Tam Coc was inspired by the Dong Ho folk painting "The Shepherd Playing the Flute", a famous painting imbued with the colors of the ancient Northern Delta. This is a familiar image from the childhood of many Vietnamese people. The painting is meant to honor the cultural and religious values of the ancient capital. The buffalo is the "capital of the career", very important to farmers and also represents the gentleness and diligence of farmers. In addition, the painting also expresses the people's wishes for favorable weather, favorable terrain and harmonious people, and a good harvest" - Mr. Hoang Thanh Phong, Tam Coc Tourist Area Management Board shared.
This year's "Tam Coc-Trang An Golden Color" program also has many new and unique features, such as: The ceremony to worship the God of Agriculture, celebrating the new rice... are recreated with the participation of more than 2,000 people in the core heritage area and nearly 200 "buffaloes" representing the Vietnamese wet rice agricultural civilization. For the first time in Ninh Binh, visitors can admire and join the procession of 63 boats carrying offerings, including typical products of regions across the country offered to the God of Agriculture.
Along the Ngo Dong River, filled with golden rice fields, there is a live performance recreating the ancient farming methods, the rice production process of the Vietnamese people, the new rice celebration, and the worship ceremony of the God of Agriculture, which is imbued with traditional cultural identity. This is also an event to commemorate the merit of the God of Agriculture for giving the people a bumper rice crop and to honor the beauty of farming of the farmers of the Northern Delta in general and the people of Ninh Binh in particular.
Along with experiential activities and new tourism products, Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024 will feature many attractive and unique cultural and artistic activities such as: Opening Ceremony of Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024; organizing a walking street; performing and displaying the province's OCOP products, traditional handicraft products; Tam Coc Golden Season photo tour; survey program, introducing Ninh Binh tourism products; art photo exhibition with the theme "Tam Coc-Trang An Golden Season"; Goat fighting contest; mass cultural and artistic programs, water puppetry, Cheo singing, Xam singing, folk songs of 3 regions...
The beautiful, favorable weather, the golden, brilliant rice fields, along with the appeal of cultural and artistic activities, on the first day of Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024, attracted thousands of tourists to visit and experience.
Ms. Luong Thi Hanh, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: "This is the third time my family and I have visited and experienced Ninh Binh Tourism Week. Although it is an annual event, each year, Ninh Binh Tourism Week brings my family new, unique and attractive experiences. This year, I was impressed with the unique cultural space of the Tam Coc-Trang An Golden Festival. This is an unforgettable experience for me and my family. I believe that with the innovation of tourism programs and products, "Tam Coc-Trang An Golden" will increasingly affirm its brand, attracting domestic and international tourists."
As for Mr. Antony, a tourist from England, the attraction of Tam Coc comes from the wild yet majestic beauty of the mountains, rivers and streams combined harmoniously with the golden rice fields planted and cared for by the hands of farmers. Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2023, the whole province welcomed 172,600 visitors, more than double that of 2022; of which, international visitors reached over 30,000; visitors to Tam Coc-Trang An area reached 72,300. With the natural scenery of green mountains, white clouds, golden rice fields, along with many cultural and artistic activities and unique tourism products, it is expected that during the 8 days of Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024, the whole province will attract about 300,000 visitors, an increase of 75% over the same period last year.
By renewing tourism activities and products, Ninh Binh Tourism Week is proving to be a great attraction for domestic and international tourists, thereby contributing to stimulating low-season tourism, increasing revenue, and contributing to realizing the goal of making Ninh Binh tourism a key economic sector.
