Rural areas flourish to welcome Sen Dolta festival

To ensure the effective implementation of the National Target Program 1719 in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to strengthen and innovate in communication work, raise awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members, union members, association members and the whole society on sustainable poverty reduction and social security. Each household needs to be proactive and strive in labor and production to rise up and escape poverty sustainably, avoiding the mindset of waiting for help and support from the State and society. Focus on and promote the disbursement of capital to implement national target programs, ensuring the progress and assigned capital plan.

Mr. Tran Van Lau, Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee

In Nuoc Man hamlet, Long Phu commune, Mr. Thach Duong's family used to be a near-poor household, without any land for production, and their main income came from working for hire. His family was very excited to receive 2 cows from the National Target Program 1719.

“I will try my best to work hard and take good care of my cows to have a stable income and soon escape the near-poor household status. On this year’s Sen Dolta festival, my family prays for our ancestors to bless our village and hamlet with peace and prosperity, and for our family to be healthy and prosperous.”

According to Mr. Thach Hoang Tha, Head of the Ethnic Minorities Department of Long Phu district, from the beginning of 2023 to now, with resources from the National Target Program 1719, Long Phu district has disbursed over 7.3 billion VND to invest in the construction of 9 traffic works in hamlets and communes with special difficulties. In total, from 2022 to now, the district has supported domestic water for 65 Khmer households; deployed and built 49 houses, supported livelihoods, and converted jobs for over 200 households.

“Thanks to investment resources from the National Target Program 1719, the rural appearance and socio-economic life of the majority of Khmer people have been developing. People celebrate Sen Dolta festival in a joyful, excited and confident atmosphere” – Mr. Thach Hoang Tha expressed.

In My Tu district, many ethnic minority households have now had additional livelihoods and stabilized their lives thanks to resources from the National Target Program 1719. For example, Ms. Thach Thi Lan in Tam Soc C1 hamlet, My Thuan commune, was supported with a loan of 30 million VND from the Social Policy Bank. She bought a motorbike for convenient travel, and with the remaining money, she opened a shop selling drinks. Thanks to that, life has gradually stabilized, no longer having to go hungry one day and full the next like before. Or like the family of Ms. Trinh Ly Na in Tra Lay 1 hamlet, Thuan Hung commune, with capital support, her family bought a sewing machine and an overlock machine to make at home to increase income, gradually stabilizing their lives.

Sau hơn ba năm thực hiện Chương trình MTQG 1719, tỉnh Sóc Trăng đã hỗ trợ đất ở, nhà ở cho hàng nghìn hộ đồng bào DTTS; xây dựng hàng trăm công trình hạ tầng.
After more than three years of implementing the National Target Program 1719, Soc Trang province has supported land and housing for thousands of ethnic minority households; and built hundreds of infrastructure works.

After more than three years of implementing the National Target Program 1719, with a total capital of VND 1,030,878 billion, Soc Trang province has supported residential land and housing for thousands of ethnic minority households; built hundreds of infrastructure works; deployed over 67 models to support production development and livelihood diversification... Thanks to that, the lives of ethnic minority people in the province have gradually changed, and the appearance of the countryside has become increasingly prosperous.

Towards sustainable development

It can be affirmed that investment resources from the National Target Program 1719 are an important "launching pad" to help the ethnic minority areas of Soc Trang province transform strongly. With the responsible participation of the entire political system, the consensus and efforts of ethnic minorities in the whole Soc Trang province, 100% of communes in ethnic minority areas have solid roads to the center; 100% of communes have solid schools and classrooms and maintain the standards of universal primary education; 100% of communes, wards and towns meet the National Criteria for Commune Health... This year, on the Sen Dolta Festival, Khmer people in Soc Trang province seem happier and more excited as their lives are increasingly developing, and the countryside has many bright spots...

Nhờ nguồn vốn của Chương trình 1719 xã Mỹ Thuận, huyện Mỹ Tú đã có trạm cấp nước tập trung, đưa nước sạch về cho đồng bào dân tộc Khmer.
Thanks to the funding from Program 1719, My Thuan commune, My Tu district has a centralized water supply station, bringing clean water to the Khmer ethnic people.

Along with that, the work of preserving and promoting cultural heritage continues to receive attention; education and training in ethnic minority areas are constantly being innovated, the intellectual level and quality of human resources are gradually improved; medical work and health care for people are promoted; the tradition of solidarity between ethnic groups is promoted...

Mr. Tran Van Lau, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for National Target Programs of Soc Trang province for the period 2021 - 2025 said: "To ensure the quality and effective implementation of the National Target Program 1719 in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to strengthen and innovate in communication work, raise awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members, union members, association members and the whole society on sustainable poverty reduction and social security. Each household needs to be proactive and strive in labor and production to rise up and escape poverty sustainably, avoiding the mindset of waiting for help and support from the State and society. Focus on and promote the disbursement of capital to implement national target programs, ensuring the right progress and capital plan assigned".

Soc Trang province strives to have the average income of ethnic minorities equal the average of the province by 2029. 100% of communes, wards and towns in ethnic minority areas have upgraded asphalt or concrete roads to the commune center; 100% of ethnic minorities have access to the national grid and other suitable power sources; 100% of ethnic minorities have access to information and audio-visual equipment. Arrange safe accommodation for ethnic minority households residing in areas at risk of landslides and rising sea levels; prevent degradation and pollution of the ecological environment.
