DTO - On April 6, at Dong Thap University, Education and Times Newspaper in collaboration with Dong Thap University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University and the Department of Education and Training of Dong Thap province organized the STEM Education Festival with the theme "STEM around us".

The festival aims to help high school students better understand the benefits of STEM education, while encouraging a passion for learning in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The event gathered about 3,500 cadres, teachers and students from 70 high schools in 6 provinces and cities: Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, An Giang, Vinh Long and Dong Thap.
With nearly 40 booths from educational institutions and businesses, the Festival offers many useful activities, helping students explore and experience practical applications of STEM in life. In particular, the program includes a workshop with the theme "STEM Technology and Education" for students, managers, teachers and students; exhibition and exchange of STEM products by students; exchanges between managers, teachers and STEM experts...
Universities participating in the Counseling Day provide students with a lot of information about admissions.
STEM Festival not only benefits students but also has positive impacts on teachers, helping to improve their professional qualifications and develop more effective teaching methods. In particular, teachers have access to and update new knowledge and trends; develop creative teaching methods; enhance cooperation skills and experience sharing; inspire passion and career motivation; enhance the role of teachers in career orientation for students and apply STEM in different subjects...
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Mr. Do Duc Que - Deputy Director of the General Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training) said that the rate of students participating in STEM majors in Vietnam is currently 28-30%. This is an encouraging number, reflecting the increasing interest in science and technology majors, especially in the context of our country having a large population and increasing demand for high-quality human resources. However, compared to countries with developed economies such as Korea, Germany or Finland, this rate can be further increased to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable development of the country.
“Through today’s STEM Festival, I hope that students will be more aware of the importance of STEM in their studies and future career development. Let their passion and intelligence be aroused and nurtured, so that they can firmly step on the path of studying and scientific research, contributing to the sustainable development of the country,” Mr. Do Duc Que emphasized.
