At Nvidia’s October AI Summit in Mumbai, India, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang shared about AI’s capabilities: “Based on what we do, AI can do 20% of the work 1,000 times better. For some people, it can do half the work 1,000 times better. But it can’t do it all.”
When asked whether AI will take away human jobs, Huang replied: “Definitely not.”
Instead, he sees an opportunity for workers to use AI to complete tasks, speeding up workflows. He envisions a future where AI acts as an assistant to humans to automate work.
According to the boss of the world's largest semiconductor company, the real threat is not AI taking away jobs, but people who know how to use AI to automate work.
While AI has great potential to improve work performance, there are also concerns that it will disrupt the labor market. According to McKinsey analyst Kweilin Ellingrud, AI could cause 12 million people to change careers by 2030.
In 2023, Goldman Sachs released a report predicting that AI will replace up to 300 million workers, mainly in the administrative sector. However, technology will also create new jobs and promote greater efficiency in the workplace.
Nvidia CEO has long proposed using AI to automate jobs, once saying he wants Nvidia to become a company with “100 million AI assistants”.
He mentioned that AI will “hire” other AIs to solve problems. The human resource platform will not only have humans but also digital technology and AI.
