Lao Cai Most travel companies with room reserves for the September 2nd holiday in Sa Pa have sold out due to high customer demand.

According to the Sa Pa Town Department of Culture and Information, the number of visitors from September 1 to September 4 is estimated at 75,000. The occupancy rate of hotel rooms in the center is estimated at 90% and at community tourism sites is 70%. Specifically, September 1 and 2 are the busiest times, with an estimated 25,000-30,000 visitors per day. The remaining two days of the holiday are estimated at 8,000-10,000 visitors per day.

Many travel companies consider Sa Pa to be a highly stable destination and will soon be fully booked for the September 2nd holiday. This destination offers a variety of travel experiences, is suitable for all ages, and is easy to get to by car or motorbike. Therefore, it is unlikely that Sa Pa will be fully booked for the holiday.

Bui Quyet, administrator of the Sa Pa tourism community with more than 620,000 members, said he had "held" about 300 room nights (number of nights of stay) in advance to get good prices for members. Quyet mainly booked 3-star rooms, 4-5 star rooms accounted for 20%. As of 9am on August 30, he had sold out all 300 room nights he had purchased.

"Sa Pa has always been the most stable tourist destination in the Northern region," he commented. This administrator added that according to information from the tourism network in Sa Pa, the number of visitors on September 2 this year could reach 90% compared to before the pandemic.

Ms. Hoang Tuyet, Director of Top One Travel, which specializes in selling retail travel services, said she bought about 30 room nights for the occasion of September 2. The room fund in Sa Pa accounts for 40% of the company's total room fund. Ms. Tuyet did not "buy" too many because she was worried about the storm situation on September 2 like previous years.

Currently, the company has sold 90% of its room fund in Sa Pa. According to Ms. Tuyet, customer interest in Sa Pa is still very high, so selling rooms is not difficult at all, and is expected to be completed before the holiday.

According to data on August 31 from the Mustgo booking platform with 2,000 hotel partners nationwide, Sa Pa was the most popular destination for customers to book rooms during the period of September 2. The 3- and 4-star segments had room occupancy rates (the ratio of the number of rooms sold to the number of rooms available) reaching 100% from September 1 to September 3. The 5-star segment was fully booked on September 1 and 2, and only low-class rooms were "sold out" on September 3.

A representative of the 5-star Hotel de la Coupole MGallery confirmed that as of the morning of September 1, the room occupancy rate for the two nights of September 1 and 2 was 90%. However, on September 3 and 4, this figure was at 50%.

A representative of a travel agency in Hanoi said that tourists still tend to tighten their spending. Most destinations near Sa Pa will be a priority for tourists. On the other hand, Sa Pa being fully booked during the holidays is completely understandable because the area of this tourist destination is small and has limited capacity. Therefore, it is not difficult for Sa Pa to be fully booked during peak periods.
