Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Hoang Quan, Principal of Saigon University, said that Vietnamese students participating in international math Olympiads always achieve proud results. Many of them have grown up from the annual math Olympiads for students organized by the Vietnam Mathematical Association.
Mr. Doan Trung Cuong, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Mathematical Society, affirmed that mathematics is not only the foundation of science and technology or other scientific fields but also an important thinking tool, helping to solve practical problems in life. In today's era, mathematics has become part of the key to participating in Industry 4.0 and taking advantage of the achievements of that revolution to develop the country.
The Student Mathematical Olympiad is not only a place for students to demonstrate their mathematical abilities or understanding of mathematical applications, but also an opportunity to exchange, learn, share experiences, and nurture their passion and aspiration to reach out.
In addition to the university level, the high school level exam was held online from March 8 and 9 with the participation of 40 high schools nationwide. This year, 430 students took part in the exam.
